Dude, Where's My Welfare?...

Feeding people is cheaper than jailing them.

What's even cheaper is giving them a tax cut so they can afford their own food, and not taking away their motivation to work by just blindly throwing money at them.

If you think it is a breeze to get food stamps or any kind of assistance then you have never been anywhere near anyone who tried. If the hoops these people have to jump though to get help is blindly throwing money then I wonder what your criteria would be. Of course there is abuse but for the most part you have to leave your pride at the door and be able to prove you have nothing to your name to even get on the waiting list.

So it's hard to get assistance is your argument, right within a thread that talks about and shows the ever-growing list of people who get assistance? Okie dokie

I grew up in the inner city, rest assured i remember the mile long lines at the beginning of the month at the grocery store.

I live in Appalachia, the crap these conservative assholes make poor people do to get a mere $50-$100 dollars a month in food stamps is shameful. The numbers of people getting assistance is not growing because of some silly conspiracy theory about liberals trying to push some agenda, it's because the working class has been abandoned to shift for themselves without jobs or opportunity.

Yes it's logistically more difficult to get benefits when you live in rural areas.

But that's not the fault of conservatives. It's the fault of elitist, bigoted liberal assholes who want everything channeled to the cities, and who refuse to acknowledge that anyone else exists or matters. It honestly doesn't cross their minds that there are places where you can't hop on a bus, call a cab, walk a block and be at a civic center or dhs office. They think all our clients are online, in fact, and have cars or some other reliable transportation...and don't recognize that sometimes people have to travel miles and miles and miles to reach a sizeable town.

Those are your retarded buddies. Not mine.

I've never heard a liberal talk about the downside of having people getting entitlements, never in my life.

And I've never heard a liberal tout the accomphlishments of how the children of welfare recipients grow up and don't end up getting welfare themselves, thus continuing the chain.

I've never heard a conservative admit that feeding people is cheaper than jailing them for stealing food. A hungry man is going to eat, it's only a question of how.

How does giving a tax cut to someone who doesn't have a job help them afford food?

Oh Boy!

Another dump on the poor and unfortunates thread.

Carry on, you petty assholes!

It doesn't. Libs come up with all sorts of stupid ideas that are non-workable, so they don't have to consider the fact that constantly penalizing employers, shutting down industry, and placing more and more expensive restrictions on those who produce food and hire people in this country are the things that put people out of work and push the cost of food up.

That and the ever increasing minimum wage.

Point of fact. Those same elitist, bigoted liberal assholes are also the same ones fighting to expand public transportation and internet service into rural areas, while also keeping the public radio and TV stations which can sometimes be the only news source for rural people.

Tax cuts in general, we need huge tax cuts across the board.

Taxing the business less involved in making/shipping/selling the food will bring the food price down, lowering the sales tax will bring the price of the food down. Lowering the gas tax will drive down the costs to those doing the shipping and bring the cost of food down. With less taxes on the business they can afford to hire more people, lower unemployment.

How does giving someone a check for not working, encourage them to work?

It is wonderful when our elected officials refuse to work together to help the people that elected out of a major economic crises because they can not put aside their differences. Number one job is to make Obama one term president. Sign a pledge to a lobbyist. Start a national health care program we have no money for. Extend unemployment benefits till the day they die. Come on people. These son of a bitches better start kissing our ass as all good employees should or else we need to box up their shit. Lock the gates at the white house with a note saying screw you the states will handle this mess on their own, your fired.

Kind of tragic how the states that cry about states rights the most usually get more money from the federal government then they pay out.

Ascribing a point of view to an entire state is idiotic, don't you think?

The only way to be nice to poor people is to kill their incentive to work, and drive more middle class people into the poor class by taxing their brains out in order to pay for big gov't programs.

Oh I wish I were a bleeding heart :(.

When has anyone ever been jailed for stealing food?

45 million people have managed it, so how hard can it be?

There's an easy way to fix that.

You can donate food, and encourage others to follow suit.

Or you can bitch about gov't not forcing enough charity on others.

If they can't come to the city, bring the city to them!

The rural medical programs that we now have available to our most rural areas in this country...those were signed into existence by Bush.

The public transportation that exists, usually in the form of buses that transport community members to the nearest city for medical appointments, are generally funded from a variety of sources, depending upon the community, but by no means exclusively liberal.

Liberals have figured out they will get the idiot vote as long as they can keep stealing tax money from those that work for a living and give it via welfare handouts to the lazy and so-called poor.

it is easy to go on TV and point to Bill Gates' wealth then tell everyone it is unfair some jackass got hooked on drugs and can't get a job, so please keep his "life saving" handouts coming until the economy recovers....well never recovers in Obamination's ultimate plan.

You see, the plan of taking everyone's wealth eventually causes everyone to have nothing, expcept those in charge....see the Communists.

American Socialists/Progressives still believe in their Western European fairy tale utopia. They've believed in it and have been pushing it here for several decades. But look at the current reality in Western Europe. The EU is an awful catastrophe and is on the brink of collapse. So i would prefer we not pursue the American Socialist/Progressive - Western European fairy tale anymore. That day has now passed.

There were high hopes when Mr. Obama got elected that he would be viewed, to use Colin Powell’s phrase, as a transformational figure. Oh, he’s been transformational all right — transforming millions of people into wards of the state.

The safety net always expands during economic downturns. Medicaid rolls swell, SNAP expenditures rise, and unemployment benefits increase as people slip below the eligibility threshold.

That's how it's designed to work.
