The above is a typical Reefer Madness drug-warrior method of conveying a false impression. The fact is the vast majority of drug-induced death is caused by legal, not illegal illegal drugs, including prescribed medications which are misused.

The following is excerpted from your linked report.

(Excerpt)

Drug-induced mortality In 2010, a total of 40,393 persons died of drug-induced causes in the United States (Tables 10, 12, and 13). This category includes deaths from poisoning and medical conditions caused by use of legal or illegal drugs, as well as deaths from poisoning due to medically prescribed and other drugs. It excludes unintentional injuries, homicides, and other causes indirectly related to drug use, as well as newborn deaths due to the mother’s drug use. (For a list of drug-induced causes, see Technical Notes.

(Close)

Those who wish to peruse the full text will find the number of deaths resulting from illegal drugs is substantially smaller than those resulting from drugs which are legally available either by prescription or over-the-counter -- and it includes a rather large percentage of suicides.

Hey... I'm all for legalizing all drugs. The INSTANT that all federal, state and local government subsidies for those addled by drugs is shut down, in every facet, capacity, form, fashion or instance... .

You fucking brainless sack...

Drug users made a (bad) choice.

Victims of gun violence (some of them drug users) didn't go looking to score a few bullets in their body.

Your OP is what is known as a false analogy. Though, calling that is even being kind.

Retard.

I would say more than half (well more than half) of those that murdered others with a gun, were high as hell on illegal drugs.

Yes, even marijuana.

Liberals, are such a scourge on all of human liberty.
Why would you say that? Because you'd like it to be true? Can you cite any credible statistics to support it?

The fact is in the vast majority of substance-induced violence beverage alcohol is the responsible drug. While amphetamines are responsible for a comparatively small amount of violence, opiates, primarily heroin, render its users virtually incapable of violence -- or any other strenuous activity. And any experienced police officer will tell you that marijuana, the ultimate tranquilizer, promotes passivity, not violence.

So you would do well to free your mind of the drug-warrior brainwash. It causes counter-productive, nonsensical thinking.
