Drug Cartels Flex Muscle In Southwest

You guys with the Wall have it all wrong, we need to invade Mexico, screw NAFTA we can just split Pemex between Chevron, Exxon and Texaco. Then the Mexican states as territories of the United States and change the official language to English. They all want to be Americans anyway so our troops will be greeted with open arms and hundreds of thousands of new jobs will be created by applying all EPA and regulatory rules to Mexican Industry. Environmental issues, not a problem, just make Mexican cars run on unleaded gas and meet CAFÉ standards.

Think about it!

Surely this is satire.

Speaking as someone currently being shaken down by the State of Maine over a weed, the war on drugs perverts not only the drug users, and people involved in the sale, but the government which prohibits it, too.

Right now the criminal justice system is addicted to the revenues they get from extorting citizens who smoke hemp.

Now everyone with a clue in State government knows perfectly well that hemp poses no threat to civil society, but the money the courts and cops are making shaking down stoners is just too good to give up.

Meanwhile, on the other end of the state's balance sheet the money our government spends fighting this futile and counter productive war on drugs costs citizens far more than than it generates in fines.

Nothing about the way our society is dealing with the problem of drug use makes the slightest sense, as far as I'm concerned. Not with the legal drugs, and not the illegal drugs, either.

Unless you're a dealer, a cop, a prison guard or part of the criminal justice system, the whole war on drugs is little more than another tax on some classes of citizens, and one that doesn't really serve much purpose for the non-users, either.

If you in part of the criminal justice industry, of course, the laws serve only to help justify you continued employment.

And THAT more than any logic, is what keeps the war going, folks.

Absolutely correct.

Complaining because you knowingly broke the law and got caught is hilarious.

Damit, not one person took me seriously :cuckoo:

I thought it might prove for an interesting conversation.

Obvously drugs should be legal and taxed, works everwhere else to curb crime. The US would rather shoot druggies than let them go off and get high in a corner all alone, even if it costs a lot more to shoot them.

Satire? you be the judge.
