In an incredible ending stretch of the 2010 Belmont Stakes, Drosselmeyer overtook the lead pack to win the third race in the Triple Crown. Drosselmeyer wasn't even in contention until the last 1/4 mile of the 1 1/2 mile race, overtaking First Dude and Game on Dude for a surprise victory. Drosselmeyer started the race with 13-1 odds. His burst of energy on the last furlong was the difference in the 2010 Belmont Stakes.

Drosselmeyer ruined First Dude's chance of going rail-to-rail in victory as he held a small lead throughout the Belmont before being overtaken in the last few hundred yards. Fly Down finished second and First Dude came in third. Both horses were 5-1 odds.

The favorite Ice Box, coming in at 9-5, faded early in the race and never found himself in contention, finishing as a mere afterthought.

The 2010 Belmont Stakes was not as sexy of a race with no Triple Crown threat, let alone the fact the Kentucky Derby and Preakness winners, Super Saver and Lookin' At Lucky, did not even run in the Belmont, but it was a good ending and a surprise winner.

A pretty finish at the Belmont today.

Those horses always look so beautiful at the Belmont, it's such a classic and historic park. Especially on sunny days, they just shimmer.

No real horse to get excited about this year.

Last year, Mine that Bird and the filly Rachel Alexandra gave you reasons to tune in

Beautiful race! Mr. Boe and I found a little sports bar in Carmel on Saturday in which to watch the race. Wonderful horse - and nice to see Mike Smith get a win.
