(BEDMINSTER, N.J.) — President Donald Trump has signed an emergency spending bill that will pump more than $2 billion into a program that allows veterans to receive private medical care at government expense.

Trump, who made improving veterans care a central campaign promise, signed the VA Choice and Quality Employment Act while at his New Jersey golf club on Saturday. The bill, which addresses a budget shortfall at the Department of Veteran Affairs that threatened medical care for thousands of veterans, provides $2.1 billion to continue funding the Veterans Choice Program, which allows veterans to seek private care.

Another $1.8 billion will go to core VA health programs, including 28 leases for new VA medical facilities.

"Today is another milestone in our work to transform the VA where we're doing record-setting business," Trump said.

How many of you people posting on here about people not being able to handle war would come through a situation where your two best friends took an IED to their vehicle and were blown up, and your vehicle was also in a blast, but even though you came through unscathed, you saw the bodies of your friends blown apart in several pieces.

I challenge ANY of you to come back from an experience like that and not be affected.

Have it happen to you more than a couple of times, and chances are you would have a serious case of PTSD.

Besides..............humanity wasn't built for war because of all the atrocities that happen on the battle field. We do much better when we cooperate with each other.

Despite getting blown up by IEDs, today's warfare is rather sterile. Historically all warfare was hand to hand combat with swords, battle axes, warhammers and maces. The battlefield was slick with blood and body parts. Yet those men went home plowed their fields and raised their children. If they couldn't handle war, they died. There was none of this plea for pity.

So it absolutely true that some people just can't handle war. They are good people. They are fine, upstanding individuals. They just can't handle war. It is not a personal failing.
