In the early hours of this Saturday, the Military Forces started a strong operation in the south of the country against the dissidence of the FARC. In the maneuver, the soldiers managed to shoot down Edgar Mesías Salgado, known as 'Rodrigo Cadete', who led the dissidence that was mobilized between Caquetá and Putumayo.
President Iván Duque confirmed it from Manizales: "Today the criminal known as 'Cadete', one of the most feared figures of terrorism in our country, has been neutralized."

The Minister of Defense, Guillermo Botero, gave more details of the military operation that resulted in the death of Cadete. He explained that the operation against the group commanded by Cadete, in which some 260 men of the special forces participated, began on the afternoon of this Friday, February 1, in the south of the municipality of San Vicente del Caguán.
"(Cadet) was regrouping former Farc militants to mount a new movement and that's where we managed to neutralize them. 510 days ago, Cadete had declared himself a dissident of the FARC, "said Botero.
