labor costs are just 1/3rd the cost of a product. So, say a head of lettuce costs, $3. Double the wages paid to pick it, and you only need to raise the price to $4. You dont have to ALSO double the wages of the farmer, the trucker, the warehouser, the shipper and the retailer, ya know.

Everyone will need a raise. Do you think the truckers are going to let the beaners get as much as they do?

Time for America to begin developing robots to pick the lettuce.

In the long run, it's cheaper and simpler and safer than hauling-in truckloads of beaners year after year.

As the idea catches on, lettuce-field automation will get much cheaper, and the price of that head of lettuce may actually go down.

Win-Win.

Meanwhile, we start 'chipping' (low-jacking) temporary field workers, so we can find 'em easily, if they decide to roam off the range.

Call it a 'condition of employment' with free removal the day they cross back over the border.

That is the exact effect of raising minimum wages.
Robots can do menial jobs for a lot less than 15 bucks
Notice the disappearing cashiers at Wal-Mart?
The burger flippers at Mickey D's aren't far behind.

Dumb Jock Bullies

Low-IQ Bizz Skule graduates aren't good enough at math to understand your point. Simplify things for them, as was done in their final exam in Accounting:

Q. How much is 2 + 2?
A. How much do you want it to be?
