I think many have left organized religion for the same reason as you however too many have also left the concepts and philosophy of a spiritual life. Bad teachers do not make the lesson untrue and many have returned to the lesson after forgiving finding new teachers and forgiving the old for attempting to teach what they still need to learn. While many have quoted the Koran as a scripture that incites murder, I am trying to reserve judgement until I hear an explanation from a true practitioner. Christianity certainly had to look like a philosphy of intolerance and violence during many periods in history yet that is not how I understand it at all.
