Don't let them marry, don't let them get divorced

Gay divorce case draws attorney general's attention

What is with the republicans, cant people just live their lives.

No they may not, unless it is in the way the majority wants it.

Sorry, our Nation wasn't founded on that principle, the majority doesn't get to vote away the inalienable rights of the minority or should I say it's not supposed to be able to.

The tyranny of the majority is still tyranny.

Tell that to Utah, California, Arizona, Texas, Arkansas and many many more on many many different fronts.

In principle we agree on this and now I am not sure how I feel. It is like my world is all topsy turvy.

Who is stopping people from living their lives? They were absolutely free to do whatever they wanted. But they insisted that the government needs to recognize them as special. and now they are unhappy that it's the government, and not them who controls their relationship.

Biggest bunch of hypocrites ever.

I dont see how being equal and allowed to enter into a legal contract afforded to heterosexual couples is in anyway them trying to make the government recognize them as special.

IMHO it's semantics ,"gay rights" ... no such thing, there are only rights, adding the word "gay" to it sounds inherently like someone is looking for some special set of rights that everyone else doesn't enjoy. "Gay marriage", it's the word "marriage" that sticks in peoples craw, since the majority appear to define "marriage" as a union between a man and a woman and are attached to the tradition and symbolism that make it so, just change the verbiage to "civil union" or some other phrase that doesn't include the word marriage and I suspect the vast majority don't have a problem with it.

No one has stopped them from entering into agreements and relationships. However, it's not marriage and if they want it, it exists without government recognition.

However, once you get the government involved, you have to accept the fact that you no longer control the dynamics of the relationship.

This issue isnt about gay marriage. It's about subversion of the family and our Republic.

It would be cool if our liberal friends on here would remember that.

Oh hogwash. You of all people know, or should know, just how little a marriage license from the State has to do with "relationships" and how much it has to do with next of kin status, inheritance, taxes and property ownership. You also know how expensive, time consuming, limited and ultimately ineffective it is to draw up and enforce private contract(s) for legal benefits derived from marriage - those that can be contracted privately at all. Either remove all barriers to legal marriage between consenting adults or get rid of the special benefits government attaches to it.

Oh not this crap.
How the fuck does allowing gay marraige subvert the family. A gay couple with adopted kids is a family.

Now would you be in favor of removing all government benefits (and drawbacks) from married couples?

Hey stupid! What if someone wanted to live their life molesting little children, robbing liquor stores or selling drugs to school children, should that be allowed?

So a relationship between two adults =robbery, molesting children and selling drugs to minors. :cuckoo:

No it equals people just living their lives as if anything can go and where laws can be overlooked. Which is exactly what that dumbass silkcity suggests.

How absurd right wing religous wingnut kooks are.
What an incredible thing these folks are doing for our country while we are fighting 2 wars at the same time, unemployment is double digit, the economy is not doing well, the debt is doubling and ten dozen other problems are behind those.
They want a Constitutional Amendment to ban gay marriage and that is a top priority to them over all of the above.
They want to use the US Constitution, a document that is dedicated to the preservation of our inalienable rights, to tell a certain group of people what they cannot do, rather than tell the government what they can not do.
First time ever for that one sports fans.
