I can remember when Mossi pitched for the Tigers, somebody said he couldn't throw hard enough to break glass. I can remember claiming I could hit Mossi at age 13. Now I see he's passed away at age 90. Don's looks were kinda strange...he's been called the ugliest man in the history of baseball. See for yourself:

90

Maybe they're right, but he didn't let his looks stand in his way of marrying a pretty lady, having a mess of kids, and a decent career in MLB. The Tigers got both Mossi and Narleski from the Injuns in '59....both had been in Cleveland's bullpen for their pennant run. The Tigers kept Ray there but put Mossi in the rotation and he had some good years.....especially in '61 when the Tigers won over 100 games but couldn't match the hated Yanks for the AL crown.

Now that I've crashed through the 70 barrier, age 90 seems a long shot but one I'll do my best to make. Don did it, and even as a young man, he couldn't throw hard enough to break glass. So long, Mossi....R.I.P.
