Christmas just a little bit?

We don't have Thanksgiving here but I can imagine it takes some of the shine away from Christmas, especially the dinner and guests.

Not to me. But, I was also raised only knowing it this way.

In fact, having seen divided families, it gives the children an opportunity to do the family day on one holiday with one parent and the other with the other.

Over here divided families would probably do Christmas day at one parents and Boxing Day at the others or share the day between the two.
