The EC and election process are not a secret trotted out to simply to deny the best wishes of the stupid. They're all already locked, which also means there's no point in any voter in Hollywood or Manhattan OR Tennessee or Utah to even go vote, because it's already done for them, regardless which way they wanted to vote.

My state was what that bullshit system calls a "swing" state, too close to call, so we had candies here constantly. We even had posts here claiming that Hillary Clinton didn't show up for one and was replaced by a hologram. Not even making that up, that's the level of propaganda infused on that election, like the "three million Amish mobilize to vote for Rump" satire, which other posters here posted and actually believed. Along with "Hillary has cancer", "Hillary has Parkinson's", "Hillary is drunk", all those desperation myths -- there was even an extra-desperate one about Bill (not Hillary) Clinton having a black love child (shades of Bush v McCain) which not only went poof as soon as it was no longer useful but seemed to be unable to distinguish the fact that "Bill" and "Hillary" are by definition two different people and only the latter was running for office.

But I digress.

Clinton clearly undercampaigned in those crucial states of Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, and there's an obvious reason that happened, to which you'd seem to be oblivious. Here it is.

--- That same fucked-up WTA/EC system, aside from keeping candidates confined to a few states, aside from nullifying most people's votes altogether, aside from perpetuating the Same-Old-Thing Duopoly system where it's impossible to crack the Demoplican-Republicrat fortress, aside from making different votes from different states vastly disproportionate ----- also make us all dependent on polls to find out whether it's even worth going to the polling place or not. Whelp, those candies are dependent on the same polls to tell them where to go and where to not-bother (see Hollywood/Manhattan/Tennessee/Utah above) because they know as well as we do that not every vote counts. Therefore if the polls are saying that North Carolina might go either way but Michigan is blue, then both the red and the blue candies are going to concentrate on NC (which they did, and which they did).

Interestingly none of those three states, Michigan, WIsconsin and Pennsylvania, could muster even half of their state vote for any candidate. Nobody cracked 50%. My state here did likewise. Even in the aforementioned locked-red Utah, Rump could not crack 50% even while prancing around with an R after his name. That doesn't exactly indicate strong roots if you know what I mean.

I'm going to vote as always even though my vote for president has never counted towards electing them. It's all part of the curse of being in the local political minority. This fundamentally undemocratic system of electing the president must end.

I started voting when I was 18 in 1978. I have voted in every election since registering. The people I voted for all through the 80s always lost. It wasn't until the 90s that people I voted for started to win.

Things do change.

I see things differently.

I think it's because I'm second generation in this nation. My dad's parents came here escaping the Armenian genocide.

I grew up being told that I owe my life to America.

My dad believed that so much that he volunteered for the Army during the Korean War. He wasn't drafted. He believed he had an obligation to give back to the nation that saved the lives of his parents thus making it possible for him to even exist.

Both of my parents taught my siblings and I how important it is to vote. How so important it is to take part in the process.

Countless people died so that we have that right to vote. As a woman I know we women had to struggle even more to get that right to vote. Women were put in prison, lost their children, lost their spouse and some even lost their lives just so I can vote.

When Susan B. Anthony was taken to prison for voting, they took her on a street car. The driver of the car demanded a nickel for her fare. She told the driver to get it from the police who was taking her to prison.

I sure am not going to make their sacrifice worthless.
