He is wearing his uniform because he is in the Army, and being tried by the Army. They could administratively discharge him, but then he would be entitled to benefits. As a prisoner he is not entitled to be saluted, or to salute superiors. When he is convicted he will be dishonorably discharged, and not entitled to wear the uniform.

If they discharge him before they try him then he is no longer under the jurisdiction of the UCMJ and of course would then be transferred to the civilian justice system. This is why he is in uniform, and I prefer it stay that way, military appeals are not as drawn out as civilian ones. He will fry, all the delays and such are no big deal.

It's a military proceeding and no one in the Army wears "Fatiques" anymore.

Especially in a court room setting. He was most certainly in his Class A uniform as required by the UCMJ.

No the dishonorable discharge comes after the conviction. Not before it. Kind of like the sentence comes after the verdict.

BTW, I thought the Army was doing away with the Class As and going with the Blues for everything? That would be awesome. I think the blues are the sharpest uniform in the DOD and I think the Class As are the worst.

The truth is they are out there already, in small numbers, and beginning sometime this summer ALL new recruits will be issued blue instead of green.

Either is officially authorized wear for now, but the switchover SHOULD be complete by 2014.

This is Class B of course, but looks sharp

The truth is they are out there already, in small numbers, and beginning sometime this summer ALL new recruits will be issued blue instead of green.

The Marines have a much better outlook on this than the Army.

No merit badges on field uniforms. They serve no purpose.

Not that I lived by that standard when I was in, but seriously, It sucked watching good soldiers get instantly dismissed because they didn't have a tab while boneheads who managed to somehow make it through Ranger School (probably in their buddies rucksack) get instant street cred.
