Does the middle class have a future?

Got it. Without false premises, distortions and lies, what would the right wingers EVER have?

Trickle down economics and lower taxes on the wealthy are synonymous with 'Banana Republic' which is exactly where we're headed with right wing republican policies. Banana Republics are also run by the 1% elite, not democracies. Given the opportunity that's exactly how the right wing would like it here in the USA and they'll do anything to get to that point - lie, cheat and steal. What baffles me is just how many of the American working class believe the republican rhetoric that they represent them when it couldn't be further from the truth. What a travesty!

The rich were given large tax cuts on the promise that they would increase hiring.

They didn’t. They have found that they no longer need us to make money.

Time to take the tax cuts back and then some.

You don't even understand the premise enough to legitimately call it false ... Ramble on and keep chasing your tail fool.

.

And using GOP's trickle down will eventually work right? BESIDES for the 1%ers? lol

I have never seen anyone whine as much as you do.
Grow a pair,get a job and STFU.

Why are you asking me about trickle down economics?
What have I posted that expresses anything about trickle down economics?
Why would I entertain your desire to chase your tail around in circles when it is evident that you don't have a clue what you are talking about and cannot even follow a discussion that involves anything I have posted?

Yeah, THAT'S what I've been saying *shaking head*

Non-Partisan Congressional Tax Report Debunks Core Conservative Economic Theory

The conclusion?

Lowering the tax rates on the wealthy and top earners in America do not appear to have any impact on the nation’s economic growth.

This paragraph from the report says it all—

“The reduction in the top tax rates appears to be uncorrelated with saving, investment and productivity growth. The top tax rates appear to have little or no relation to the size of the economic pie. However, the top tax rate reductions appear to be associated with the increasing concentration of income at the top of the income distribution.”

These three sentences do nothing less than blow apart the central tenet of modern conservative economic theory, confirming that lowering tax rates on the wealthy does nothing to grow the economy while doing a great deal to concentrate more wealth in the pockets of those at the very top of the income chain.

You wont hear me complaining. And I'll hoist a beer in in your memory when I cash in on my next CG.....all while laughing about your short comings.

Whether one is considered middle class is a state of mind.

As the bottom 90% of US wages has stagnated and the top 1/10th of 1% % of US has skyrocketed as their tax burden has plummeted
To label someone or something in a "class" is to create a pigeon hole and make it a target group. I am rich when I have some dough at the end of the week after paying bills, I am poor when I cannot pay my CC bill off in full. Like I said a state of mind.

Amazing how ANYONE on the bottom 90% of the income scale in the US Could hold a conservative view on economics, as if making sure the "job creators" continue to to do extraordinarily well as the rest of US languish. Simply amazing

State of mind? lol
Yes moron boi, obviously you let someone else do your thinking for you, label you then categorically treat you according to an artificial standard. You are just part of the supply chain of cash where those you allow to control your life and just reach into your pocket after busting your ass all week.

If you are rich it is because of your merits. If you are poor its because of your faults.

The real problem in these discussions is that people always fall into the aspirin fallacy. If one helps you feel better, 10 will make you feel amazing. If 10 make you sick, then they're nothing but poison and you should never ever take them.

For example, the Ted Talk video you posted. I actually found it very interesting. I was expecting some mindless drivel calling for Utopian ideals. Instead, it was well presented information and hit a very true point. But at the same time, the discussion did not give an accurate treatment to the point. The message that was articulated was that all inequality is a bad thing. But that is not supported in the data presented. Not by a long shot. We can reasonably infer from the data presented in the video that too much inequality is harmful. But there was no data available that would justify saying that all inequality is harmful.

Tax cuts can be helpful to the economy. But not always. Some inequality is healthy. But not always.

I wonder: With the current middle class squeeze and future automation, can the middle class as we know it survive? I was thinking, when in the past things were automated e.g: the mechanical loom, luddites, the automobile, people adapted so why not now? Could it be that we could go through another 1950's style boom?
I suppose NO.
How will this influence on the whole political and economical system?
TPE-AMERICAN-MIDDLE-CLASS-banner1.jpg

as long as we have this corrupt ONE PARTY SYSTEM we have of demopublicans and reprocrats then no,the middle class cannot survive.its really a ONE PARTY SYSTEM so the sheople think they have a choice in who gets elected actually believing they elect and put these people in office when in reality they are hand picked and SELECTED for us by the establishment

from here on out each president that gets in will be more corrupt and evil than the previous one.Has been since 1980.Our last halfway decent one we had served from 1976 to 1980. every president since then thats gotten in has been worse and more corrupt than the previous one starting with the one that got in in 1980 so expect that trend to continue.

Notice how when a good one gets in he only serves one term? Bush sr being the exception because he was the one in reality who was really running the country under Reagan at least by his second term since Reagan had alzhemiers and could not function capably by that time so he was tired of running the country and was willing to step down by that point.

Are advocating economic equality or income equality? I only seek equal opportunity and upward mobility; not redistribution. It is a scam. I look around the world in economies that are more Socialist, Communist, and Fascist and I only see true 1% in each country locked in to wealth while the masses are told to be content and that everything is "fair". It's not a direction I want to see US go in. Since you continue to site Government Policy, I am interested in policies that preserve Equal Opportunity. Modeling China, Brazil, Cuba, Russia will not get US there.

Harder for Americans to Rise From Lower Rungs

But many researchers have reached a conclusion that turns conventional wisdom on its head: Americans enjoy less economic mobility than their peers in Canada and much of Western Europe. The mobility gap has been widely discussed in academic circles, but a sour season of mass unemployment and street protests has moved the discussion toward center stage.

Former Senator Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, a Republican candidate for president, warned this fall that movement “up into the middle income is actually greater, the mobility in Europe, than it is in America.” National Review, a conservative thought leader, wrote that “most Western European and English-speaking nations have higher rates of mobility.” Even Representative Paul D. Ryan, a Wisconsin Republican who argues that overall mobility remains high, recently wrote that “mobility from the very bottom up” is “where the United States lags behind.”

Liberal commentators have long emphasized class, but the attention on the right is largely new.

“It’s becoming conventional wisdom that the U.S. does not have as much mobility as most other advanced countries,” said Isabel V. Sawhill, an economist at the Brookings Institution. “I don’t think you’ll find too many people who will argue with that.”

CBO finds that, between 1979 and 2007, income grew by:

275 percent for the top 1 percent of households,
65 percent for the next 19 percent,
Just under 40 percent for the next 60 percent, and
18 percent for the bottom 20 percent.

Sorry, I didn't get that they meant all inequality. No thinking person thinks a garbage man should make what a doctor does, I took it as the amount of inequality. He was talking about levels of inequality, IMO

I miss thinking and honest conservatives like Goldwater

Without false premises, distortions and lies, what would right wingers EVER have?

IF you don't think the US has changed over the past 40+ years, following right wing think tank BS (like trickle down, less regulation, "free trade", etc) , AND the bottom 90% of US hasn't lost out AS the "job creators" have raped US, you are a bigger moron than I thought

Productivity has surged, but income and wages have stagnated for most Americans. If the median household income had kept pace with the economy since 1970, it would now be nearly $92,000, not $50,000.

It s the Inequality Stupid Mother Jones

Productivity has surged, but income and wages have stagnated for most Americans.

this is because liberal unions, taxes, and deficits have driven 40 million jobs off shore and because liberals invited in 20 million illegals to take what jobs remained and to bid down the wages for the remaining jobs.

I have asked dumbto3 16 times if he is a communist?

Weird how it coincided with Reaganomics as the top 1% has skyrocketed 275% and the tax burden on the income has dropped about 40% right Bubba? Yeah, as the unions lost about half the membership since then? Yeah, it's the unions fault *shaking head*

For the 6th time, you still sleeping with your mommy Bubba?
