Does it concern you, that the U. S. Military is monitoring web sites such as USMB?

Yet during my 22 years on active duty I came within 15 minutes of being a casualty in three different terrorist attacks in Europe. Once with my wife present.

So, what are we saying here. Spend more money on national security, keep spending as it is, or reduce spending on national security? What kind of changes should we make for monitoring the Internet?

Since no one on this board has a real clue about what NSA monitors and how they monitor it I would say to simply allow them to continue. And until we get national security up to a decent standard yes, we should spend more. There are many less important things that can be cut. Not to mention fraud, waste, and abuse.

i've got a pretty fair idea of what the NSA monitors and how they do it. what i would like to know is if they have actually ever intercepted anything that made a significant difference or are they just some very expensive, high-tech voyeurs.

they have. doesn't make it constitutional though

You think you know what they are doing. However the programs inside the NSA are highly classified. I worked directly under NSA for 4 years and had no Idea how their internal systems worked.

They are listening and watching, we can guess that they are not reading this post but if i added some words like Allah, and jihad. Maybe threw in a few Muhameds, and a Hi-jacking or two. Add some weapons like razor blades, knives, guns, or bomb. I could mention places like Frankfort or Tripoloi, Maybe Muenchen or Islamabad. Maybe add some chemicals to the list.

Chances are that those words and places keyed a computer to take a second look. Of course again, i am just guessing.

thats exactly how ti works. its the same for voice when talking on the phone

as i understand, their primary mission is to intercept any and all detectable discrete signals and decode them.

they are listening to everything their equipment can detect. most of the work is automated and i'm told that people are only notified when a certain threshold for key words has been exceeded. that is what the echelon program does.

the person doing the telling claimed to be an analyst who also claimed that he had seen documentation for an average of 15,000 contract killings ordered annually since the kennedy assassination against us citizens in the name of national security.

the obvious question becomes whose security are they defending --- the entire nation or the warmongering pimps that have suborned our constitution for the past 47 years?

Great point, what return are taxpayers getting for their investment. Unfortunately the answer is probably "classified."

Figure everyone should see my reply to your stupidity.

"And you think for a moment that I give a rats ass about disappointing you? You give me a big neg one, lol that is such a laugh. And you chose to do it to a post where I didn't even make a comment. Then you want to dis my service to the country and the American Legion? Look close at the picture dip shit, I'm the Post Vice Commander. When the Commander decides to retire I will be the Commander. Obviously a lot of people better than you think pretty highly of me. I also am a member in good standing of the DAV, and AMVETS. Now when you grow some hair on your chest look me up. Maybe by then you'll have the sense to show some respect."

SFC O

Now I will probably return the neg rep to you to. Just for stupidity and lack of respect. I'll allow you to show the good folks what you said to me. If you have the guts.

Off topic, but entertaining.

They plan to monitor the interwebs! :p

Fuck you US military, why dont you just go kill a few more thousand civilians, seems to be what you are best at. Oh thats right, you are already busy killing civilians, my bad.
Dont forget to inform the rest of the world you are the good guys while doing it!

I saw this thread the other day and declined to comment, but after some of the paranoia, government-conspiracy comments some folks obsess over, I can't resist.

No, the government does not give a rats ass about you and your comments on this web site or the fact that you spend so much time jerking off to porn.

All the military has said is that when it comes to warfare, the military isn't going to pull punches. It reserves the right to invade the internet in order to collect intelligence, distort information or wreak havoc on enemy communications systems and networks. The only ones affected will be the enemy and those who communicate with the enemy via communications networks that include the internet.

I don't see any problem with this.

As a vet who has seen plenty of action , i must tell you that you sir are an idiot. Man a post before you talk shit. The US Military takes more pains to prevent civilian casualties than any military in history. Even to the point of putting our own soldiers in danger rather than intentionally harm civilians.

I would surely hope many more posters would call you out for insulting the honor of our fighting man like this.

I didn't know anyone there could read could read English, just Hebrew.

It concerns me that any American would be worried that maybe they are posting things that would concern the US military.
