Nice job Tea Party, smaller government has arrived. Unfortunately cuts will be made to the benefits of our kids we sent into harms way. But be proud, TP people, most of those kids were other peoples kids, not the kids of of members of Congress or other members of the power elite.

We're not "sending kids into harm's way," you stupid asswipe. It's an all-volunteer force. When people like you are drafted, then you can try that line. Until then, STFU.

You forgot to add "from projected spending increases." These cuts are meaningless. The amount of military spending is still increasing.

Since you're not very bright, let me explain. The Bush Administration sent kids into harms way on an adventure, a war of choice. Your draft example is nothing but a canard; few those who volunteered were the sons or daughters of this nations power elite. For years I watched every Sunday morning the names of those killed listed by their ages and home towns scroll on the TV screen. Too many were E-4 and below, not yet 21 and from small town USA.

500 hundred billion to be cut over ten years, benefits to be cut to those not retired is what I heard. So the kids who enlisted based on promises will not recieve what was promised.

You really must stop looking in the mirror.

There is a difference between military spending and defense spending. Apparently you think military spending is the more important of the two, pretty strange for a liberal.

You heard? I heard we were going to have flying cars by 1980.

And how cute in his little rant he had to throw the Tea Party in there..

LIKE they had anything to do with this...:eusa_whistle:

oh so cutting defense is a good idea you just want to be able to dictate what they cut in the dod...I see. well they cut a hell of a lot more than that, but hey, don't knock yourself researching it or anything...

That is only 50 billion dollars cut per year from projected spending. Those are not cuts.

At the end of 10 years, we will still be spending more than we are today.

You idiots need to make up your mind. You bitch that the DOD budget should be cut, and when it is, you bitch about that.

You just like to bitch. That's because you run on sheer emotionalism, and that emotion is primarily hate.

So there's no point in trying to make you happy, because you don't want to be happy.

It's funny how he pretends to care about the troops, innit?

Not at all sincere, of course, but it's funny he thinks he can fool anybody.

The huge DOD cuts will be the result of congress not having the balls to do their job. They formed the "super" committee to make needed cuts, defense included, but they could not. The default was pre-drawn cuts to both defense and entitlement programs. As in most agencies and organizations, personnel costs are the largest associated with operating budgets.

There are lots of smart people that believe the national debt is out greatest threat to national securithy. Sensible cuts have to be made. All this country needs is a group of people with the intelligence and guts to make that happen. As of right now, there are not a lot of people in office that meet those requirements. Hopefully after this election, that will change. I care not if they have a D, R, or I after their names, as long as they give enough of a damn to help fix this country's problems.

What kind of convoluted logic leads lefties to blame the "Tea Party" for cuts in defense spending? I'd support cutting some big budget projects like a Nuke Sub or another Air Craft Carrier but that's not what Barry plans to do. He is cutting back personnel in the Army and Marines. Experienced officers and NCO's will get their walking papers before they get a chance to complete their 20 and retire. It's another dirty trick in a long line of anti-Military decisions by left wing democrats.

still, we should always be concerned where we send our best and bravest. volunteer or not.

The future is robotic forces. Granted, ground robotics lags seaborne and airborne robotics but eventualy most combat troops will be replaced by the bots.

There are more than 2,000 ground robots fighting alongside flesh-and-blood forces in Afghanistan, according to Lt. Col. Dave Thompson, the Marine Corps’ top robot-handler. If his figures are right, it means one in 50 U.S. troops in Afghanistan isn’t even a human being
