Do you criticise them to their face?

They don't. I don't.

How does being on an internet forum change your behavior?

It seems there is something missing not to see the facial expressions or hear the tone of voice. It's sometimes hard to tell if a person is joking or not.

Yep, they do. And yea, I do. Because real friendship is based on honesty - not pandering to each others overly emotional bullshit.

My real life friends are happy that I'm finally recognizing things they told me years ago.

My brother is a flaming liberal. Basically because he's too cheap to buy his own health insurance and wants the government to provide it for him.

We don't ever talk politics when we are face to face. It is usually at family get-togethers and talking politics would ruin that. We argue on FaceBook.

I prefer discussing politics over the internet simply because it's easier to keep on task and to be able to prove that what you are saying is true. Also, your opponent cannot claim that they didn't say what you claim they siad because you can show them the direct quote.
