Not sure at all what your sour grapes post has to with the history of Karate, but basically, karate evolved out of chinese gung fu along with other disciplines like Kabudo, which was a system of defense developed by Japanese farmers using their modified farm implements as weapons after being disarmed by the government. But the fundamental roots of all martial arts go back to ancient china as a system of meditation and mental discipline, eventually honed into a system of exercises for well-being adapted into a fighting system for war and combat. And properly trained, a ninja is more dangerous than a guy with a gun.

Pretty much irrelevant. Nothing replaces a gun. All that stuff you see in karate movies is just that--acting in a movie.

If the government would ever take away our guns, only the cops and criminals would have them. The rest of us would be victims which is the main driver of the anti-gun left.

This is true, but as a blackbelt, I can tell you there is nothing like a gun. In fact we studied very few moves against a gun, and both of them were staged as if somebody put a gun to your belly (which no criminal would do) like those old 1960's movies. But even if that were to happen, you have very little chance at not getting shot unless the attackers gun jammed.
