This is one of the best illustrated explanations of all the different television formats I've ever found. Unfortunately it doesn't include the ultra new 1080p. But with the excelent explanations of what the difference is between "interlaced" and "progressive", you should be able to extrapilate what 1080p is, and how GOOD it is.
