Dems warn GOP of backlash for opposing Sotomayor - Yahoo! News

snip,
The Senate debate over Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor turned bitter Wednesday, after Democrats warned the GOP it would pay a steep price for opposing the judge who would be the first Hispanic justice, and a top Republican charged they were playing destructive racial politics.
If the Democrats are color blind, why do they keep bring up race?

Because it is an issue, perhaps?

Or are you trying to tell us that Sotomayors apparent racist attitude isn't the number one issue on the minds of those objecting to her appointment?

Now, do I think that BOTH parties are playing the race card?

Damned right I do.

Hispanic (Spanish: hispano, hispánico) is a term that historically denoted a relationship to the ancient Hispania (geographically coinciding with the Iberian Peninsula). During the modern era, it took on a more limited meaning, relating to the contemporary nation of Spain.

Still more recently, the term is used to describe the culture and people of countries formerly ruled by Spain, usually with a majority of the population having some ancestry of Spanish origin and speaking the Spanish language. These include Mexico, the majority of the Central and South American countries, and most of the Greater Antilles. There are also Spanish influences in the African nation of Equatorial Guinea,[1] and the cultures of the former Spanish East Indies - the Philippines, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands.[2]

So Hispanic is an ethnicity, not a race.

Hispanics are "white" if you want /need to cram them into a category, at least according to the census departments of the USA, UK, and Germany.

Her race isn't the issue (except to democrats), how she rules on racial issues is.

As perpetrators of crime, they are considered white, as victims of crime they are considered non-white. Interesting how statistics define them that way, isn't it?

Statistics can do anything you want them to do, that's why all stats should be used as only a general snapshot. As for the categorization you suggested, where did you get that from?

also, please stop hitting on me.

Just look at the FBI's website on crime statistics.
