do we have enough parties ??

American success has demonstrated well the evolution of political theory and penchant for simplicity

ockham's razor: consider the time/era of ben franklin and the central role he played in orchestrating the birth of a nation,

have we moved/evolved beyond just the two parties we have now ?
Any change to the current system would likely be bad for both Democrats and Republicans. It's perhaps the most vile part of the current system - the ruling parties have absolutely zero hunger for change because it would diminish their own power.

Our Constitution makes it difficult for third parties, the electoral system. Add to that there are usually two types of third parties, the great man and the great idea. A Great man is perhaps the Bull Moose party that ran Teddy Roosevelt. And maybe abolition or the income tax as a great idea. If the idea has traction it is usually grabbed by one of the two major parties.
At the moment, is there a great man or great idea on the horizon?

I think more and more Americans are going to vote 3rd party candidates in the future, especially the younger generations when old enough to vote. I think most of us are sick and tired of the partisan bickering between the two majority parties. We are sick of them and their lies. We are sick of the same old politicians and the same old crap! They are both full of asses.

Parties are the problem. Parties nearly FORCE a specific thought process otherwise, you aren't "in". If you express thoughts that don't register in your party platform you are outcasted a lot of the time today, even if the majority of your thinking is in line with that party. If you don't 100% submit to your platform, you are a weakness to that party.

I find that when I think for myself I see good parts and bad parts in all parties and an America all fighting for the very same thing.

The "people/groups" REALLY at wrong and the people/groups we all hate don't want us to notice them and hope all parties keep fighting each other as a distraction.

The coup d'état perpetrated by the two dominant parties in dividing America between them has certainly gone too far.

Good post.

We use coup's to end other Countries. I wonder if the Fox News owner is from another Country *thinkning but not really*

Bullshit. On the one hand the libs yammer on and on about how fractured the right is then we have people claim it's just one train of thought. Which is it?

What does submitting to your party mean? The primary process, left and right, picks the most popular candidate. It's called voting. That's how it's supposed to work.

If you can only see black and white the problem isn't the colorful world you live in.

You have third parties. Third parties have to start at the ground level--locally and build up.

Then with a lot of time and effort you might win a cookie:

you mentioned young people. people of that generation (some) describe themselves as a "generation of socialists". bernie sanders... (i think he's too old to start a new party)

i'm not say the third party necessarily has to be anything. and the power of the concept comes with a platform, a megaphone and a seat at the adult table. mass media has made it time for more than two organised centers of political power. i'm thinking something in the middle.

do you think super delegates are fair ?

There is already a major third party in America. This party is almost as large as the other two major parties combined.

It's the None Of The Above party, and I have been a member since 2006. We swing elections, and our influence grows with each passing year.

Our non-votes provide America with the government it deserves.

So that way you can criticize everything?

I criticize lies of all types, if that is what you mean. Both major parties have gone full retard, and both major parties are spending us into oblivion.

The Republican Party allows itself to be held hostage by retards, psychopaths, liars, hypocrites, and bigots. The "leadership" (and I use that term VERY loosely) has no spine whatsoever. They are pants-shitting cowards who conceal the fact they are the party of no solutions by constantly going on the attack against the other party's proposals. When they aren't whining or shitting their pants in fear, they are lying through their teeth. And they have allowed a mean totalitarian streak to have free rein for far too long in the party. They are turning more and more fascist with every passing day.

The Democratic Party is a party of thieves. They believe the money you earn belongs to the collective. They have a visceral hatred of profits and particularly corporations. This is at the root of all their programs. Their love of the environment is really just another form of anti-capitalism with a new dress on. Not only do they want to destroy wealth, they do not want anyone else on the planet to crawl out of the mud and misery they live in. The ability to make money completely escapes them, and so they envy anyone who has the skills to do so.

This retarded policy of millions of rubes to vote for "the lesser of two evils" has resulted in more and more evil choices. Because when you vote for the lesser of two evils, you are still voting for evil. And I absolutely will not vote for evil of any magnitude. Doing so is about as retarded as it gets.

So I joined the None of the Above party while the rest of you assholes rode our country to hell in a handbasket.

We need a center party with the power to swing left or right on the issues with enough votes in the legislature to get things done.
We do. They're called independents and they swing both ways. Easy to influence emotionally too so the left usually scoops them up. But they couldn't last November.
