Definition of automation
1:the technique of making an apparatus, a process, or a system operate automatically

:the state of being operated automatically

:automatically controlled operation of an apparatus, process, or system by mechanical or electronic devices that take the place of human labor

Definition of AUTOMATION

No matter how many times it's pointed out that manufacturing has doubled in the last few decades and 87% of lost manufacturing jobs were automated, right wingers on the USMB still keep insisting Trump is bringing millions jobs back into the country.

Why?

Don't they understand this is a ridiculous and wild claim? Why keep making it?

Are you under the impression that automation requires zero employment and that the materials, maintenance and equipment used for automation magically appears without human intervention or production and transfer?

No, but the number of people required to build and maintain automation is tiny compared to when things were done manually.

Are you imagining what I said?

Besides, if Right wingers can't even say the word "automation", then why would you think they are concerned with maintenance and materials?

No doubt, all the more reason to set up conditions for several more profitable opportunities instead of nothing at all. Whining and defeatism before you even try is for losers.

Are you saying that automation doesn't require jobs?

Right...and the manufacturing is moving to Asia where they then must ship the finished products BACK to the USA...for the climate? They really dig communism? Wanted to learn a new language through immersion?

You are a dumbass @Rderp ... but everyone already knows that...

Bottom line, your premise is silly and your defeatist attitude is anti-productive. Basically .. you just want to whine... :wink_2:

... and I guess I'm just wasting my time... :eusa_doh:

Wow, somehow the work needs to get done. Can't be relying on lazy ass liberals to do any of it.

Do I really have to say it? It's so obvious.

Supporting automation requires training and education. And you know what Republicans think about training and education.

Lazy ass liberals?

Right wing stupidspeak for educated and hard working employees.

Apparently he is, and if he's afraid to lose the job to automation, he probably is one of those whose labor is not worth the minimum wage. Automation primarily targets those jobs and it's evident that they're disappearing, but in return create other types, higher paying jobs.

For 40 years they have been spouting the same horseshit and no the robots have not taken over....automation has replaced the jobs humans don't want to do.

True, supporting automation require training and education. Who do you think is going to be first in line to get the training? The existing, proven work force, perhaps?

I am currently setting up new camshaft line for General Motors, completely automated multi system worth cca $150 mill. It's been set up in existing GM facility, where is replacing the old, outdated, low production lines. As a part of retooling, we are providing training for existing workforce. The jobs they were doing are gone, replaced with smarter, cleaner, and better paid jobs. Once is done, job loss will be zero.

The only differences are, production increase tenfold, increased quality of the products, minimized errors, all with the same workforce. However, those who refuse to adjust to the new production will be replaced, and that is not a bad thing.

Now please tell me, what Republicans are thinking about education and training?

That is only the initial stages.

Without fully automated robots walking around in the streets, there will eventually be a massive need for maintenance and overseers.

Not if you mass produce beyond supplementary roles.

Automation and robotics isn’t even in its infancy yet compared to what you think it is.

Oh, it's gone way beyond that.

Anyone who watches this and says the technology is in it's infancy is either stupid or a determined ignorant. Which is it?
