Romney's biggest negative is that he's seen as elitist. So, if Republicans wanted to win, they'd drop elitist stuff like ending the Estate Tax and reducing Capital Gains taxes to zero. Romney's VP choice suggests he's doubling down on elitism. Are tax breaks for the rich that important?

How about alienating the Ron Paul supporters by stealing his delegates? Instead of taking a page from Ron Paul's playbook on liberty to expand the tent, the GOP is in the news for adding populist planks to their platform.

And, of course, they picked Romney as their candidate, a man who doesn't energize any of the GOP base because we all know he's really a social liberal, even if he's not militant about it.

here is another perspective....

the govt. gives tax breaks and subsidies to farmers.

Gives tax breaks for real estate and othe rindustrires.

Why not inheritence tax breaks and capital gains too?

He's a liberal on the levels of Obama.

He supported
-Gay rights for the past 25 years. Left of Obama.
-He supports Abortion, slightly right of Obama's post birth stance.
-He Supports the Mandate. Left of Obama.
-He supports Global warming, maybe right on what he would do about it,.
-He supports gun control, right of Obama, near Clinton.
-He supports bail outs

This guy is in many cases much like Obama. No the republican party doesn't want to win!

For the one reason that it could cost Romney the election.

Well Hell. Gotta laugh.

Talking about elitiests. What the hell do you call Barry?? Man he's an elitiest all the way. Anyone who thinks he gives a rats ass about em is out in left field somewhere.

Elitist?? Barry all the way.

The irony is that you people claim he's left of Obama, so why such vehement opposition? Why do you feel so threatened?

watch the video [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ensEjnGMRTA]Mitt Romney - Our Favorite Liberal - YouTube[/ame]

Yeah, I get it. So if he flip-flops into your camp then you should be embracing him. If your point is to call him an untrustworthy liar, I'm sure that without much effort one can put together a video of Obama's greatest hits as well.

Either way you get what you want no matter who is elected. So why the hatred? More than one person here claims he'll govern to the left. What are you worried about? It's a win-win situation.

I'm informed that currently polls suggest a race so close it cannot be called.

American opinion seems to be very nearly evenly divided between the GOP and DNC visions of where we're supposed to be headed.

They do not want to be in Office because things are so fucked up and they have no solution. Let Obama deal with it and take the heat.
