You are speaking from total historical ignorance. Those developed countries which were not on a gold standard did not suffer in the Depression. And those countries which abandoned it during the Depression recovered sooner.

So you are saying there is a divide in the GOP among the base and the leadership. Only the leadership always wins and only gets worse.

To Republicans on the USMB, school lunches for disadvantaged children, help with student loans, helping the poor, health care for the poor and so on is considered "wasteful spending". But millions in farm subsidies for wealthy Republicans is a "good thing". Because they are providers.

Working two minimum wage jobs with no benefits isn't considered "providing". Getting a million in free government money for no other reason than because they can is considered worthy by the GOP.

Are the GOP base "dupes" for wanting to help people who don't need it? And refusing to help people whose only crime is being poor?

I totally agree we should end those subsudies but you are too stupid to realize that the anti-capitalist philosophy is actually what is at fault on this. People in government seem to believe that we have to be pushed, pulled, and dragged into being productive people. That is why we have subsudies. I would love to get rid of them but there are about ten politicians who think they should be.
