The system GAVE THEM that welfare... they didn't earn it.

So every wealthy person in America somehow had the gubmint gods smile on them and hand them millions of dollars? Really? Is this just the luck of the draw or do you have to know someone who knows someone who can tell you where the line is that you get in to have wealth handed to you? Bill Gates was given his wealth by the system and didn't earn it? Steve Jobs was given his wealth and didn't earn it? All the sports figures and moviestars? Everyone?

If you want to be taken seriously by the folks here, you've got to quit pulling shit out of thin air.

You do realize states refund money too??

maybe your state does... mine doesn't. Only if you overpay.

If you make less than X amount then you get it all back - even at the state level...

That is every state - all 57 of them....

Ummm... liar.

No wonder why you don't bitch about taxes..

Your state taxes are nothing and that is probably why you don't get an income tax return.

I suppose if you don't tax you don't get a return..

I'm from Illinois and here they charge 16% on income (adding all state taxes).

Hell they charge you 1.50 every 10 miles just to drive on their holy interstate toll roads.

Its almost like a fine for driving....

That does seem excessive. We do have a ton of local taxes though... we even just got rid of an "Occupational Assessment tax" that local communities used to help fund the school districts... it would come in the mail once/year and depending on your Occupation(not your income), it would be anywhere from $700 on up to a couple of thousand dollars. That's in addition to local property and School Taxes. Most counties have abandoned that for a local Income tax, but there are a few that still use it.

Steelplate, I know it's difficult to answer, but please try.

Those that received Corporate Welfare... NEVER said every wealthy person. But do try to keep up.

If they got the Corporate welfare that they lobby for at seemingly every juncture, it CONTRIBUTES to their wealth. While it may or may not define their wealth, it surely enhances it a great deal.

Steel, I asked if you had read Marx, and you never answered. Now I ask you if you've read any Ayn Rand?

If so, are you not aware that the "looters" she so despised, are the self-same "corporate welfare" recipients you speak of?

I opposed TARP, for a free market to work, companies that make stupid decisions MUST be allowed to fail, otherwise the market is destroyed.

I agree... TARP never should have happened. If anything breaks should have been given to the people that were losing their homes...not to Gamblers in the biggest Casino in the world.
