"Nevertheless, many people find it difficult to accept the ideas that Judaism is not hereditary, but a religion, and that Jews who abandon the Jewish faith, whether they adopt another religion or none at all, are no longer Jews."

that may be a conclusion that a biologist draws, but it does not determine the position of normative Jewish law.

so ?...science is science.it can not just be trumped by normative jewish law

science can't but a scientist can as is the issue here. The biologist says "jews who abandon the jewish faith, whether they adopt another religion or none at all, are no longer jews" so he is trying to make a statement about religious law. the religious authority absolutely trumps his statement as he has no standing to try to establish religious law.

and that...there is no "jew gene "

I don't recall saying that there is. But the presence or lack of a "jew gene"" doesn't confer the right of establishing religious practice to a biologist.

Wow! Douchebag eots alerted two MODs to a link that happened to be there! Talk about desperate! Hyuk Hyuk Hyuk!

First of all, you're wrong.

Second of all, if you have an issue with moderation on this board, take it up in a post report or in a private message, not on the board.

Carry on.

A classic anti Semite will of course discount the Jewish people. You are scum.

Science’s take on the biggest Jewish genetic myths of all time

Published: 10 August 2012

We’ve all heard the generalizations and stereotypes. In its Genes and Religion issue, Moment magazine took a closer look at some of the persistent rumors to find out the truth. A version of that article, edited to conform to The Jewish Standard’s style, appears here with Moment’s permission.

Nosing out fact from fiction - The Jewish Standard
This article doesn't discount any of the scientific findings, you illiterate idiot. It's an irrelevant opinion piece. Do you bother reading the shit you post or the garbage YouTube clips you inundate this forum? Ha ha.

Judaism and Islam are religions, not races.

The pointlessness of this kind of argument can be seen in the fact that people of any ethnicity can and often do convert to Judaism or Islam. Is a special gene inserted after conversion?

More thin sixty years after the death of Hitler, the defeat of Nazism, and the horrors of the Holocaust, the concept of a Jewish race is still alive and well in the minds of too many. This book is an attempt to destroy such a concept from both a biological and historical point of view. To be a race Jews would have to have been isolated from other populations. However, they never avoided crossbreeding and convened many non-Jews. In other words, from Day One Jews have married non-Jews, and therefore there is no way to genetically characterize them as a race. Nevertheless, many people find it difficult to accept the ideas that Judaism is not hereditary, but a religion, and that Jews who abandon the Jewish faith, whether they adopt another religion or none at all, are no longer Jews.

This doesn't discount DNA tests either. Three strikes and the neo Nazi youtube douchebag is OUT. LOL

Yes, but Jews are also a people that can clearly trace their ancestry back to ancient times.

Science is science and DNA tests prove that Jews have a common gene that traces them back to Moses and Aaron's time.
