Okay, so now I have had this album for several days and listened several times. Has anybody else purchased or ripped this particular album?

There is a song on there named Deify...

It begins with a couple sound bites of a voter and of GWB then proceeds into the song. The song is good, but it has clearly been politicized.

Otherwise the album sounds much like their 2000 album, they seem to have stuck with their sound very well unlike some other bands that are always changing....

Is it good they stick with their sound, or bad? And I haven't gotten around to listening to that album yet.

I don't know. It seems like they have one album that they keep releasing. However it is one good album!

I was just curious as to whether you thought experimentation by a successful band was a good or bad idea.

It is one of the things I like about bands, Godsmacks second album wasn't as hot as the first or third but at least they sound different.

GNR got better with every album, too bad Axl is such a jerk...

I really like Disturbed but I expected something slightly different. I can't say I hate it, but it isn't my favorite album. That is still Faceless.

Disturbed is one of the few groups out there that I won't listen to, due to blatant anti-Christian content. (Marilyn Manson and A Perfect Circle are two others.)

I've actually had a few people tell me they think their lyrics are actually pro-Christian.

I'm curious, could someone post some lyrics that would be considered anti-Christian? I'm far too lazy to Google it.

I was wondering about that as well. I have their albums and don't remember any specific anti-Christian lyrics...

:dunno:

There is plenty of music I listen to that I don't agree with the message. In fact, I almost like listening to music with a message I don't agree with as the content is more interesting. Ultimately, though, musicianship is usually the key factor.

The message doesn't matter if the style is good. Look at Christian rock. It's atrocious.

C'mon.. I used to love Stryper, and that's Christian ALL the way... If it's good, it's good. Regardless of the "message" people think it sends..

97% of it, but I believe that's more due to complacency then anything. There are people who will buy Christian rock no matter how bad it is. Christian rock is the music industry's Ford or GM.

My mother used to try to force feed me Christian Rock. Thank the little gods for Stryper as all the rest of it was the sux.

No time to Google of the top of my head. But songs like "Down with the Sickness" smack of demon possession and/or blatant defiance of God.

Unfortunately, a lot of it is. I'd say about 50% of it is not worth listening to at all, but there are some gems out there. And it is getting better with time. Many Christian bands are crossing over into the mainstream.

Kanye West had that song Jesus Walks... I wouldn't say there is a crossover movement, but there are some who find success, but it's usually only for a song, and then they have to release a bunch without any religious over/undertones.

Down with the sickness is a song about Madness brought on because of child abuse...

Here are the lyrics (warning, explicit lyrics):

"Down With The Sickness"

Drowning deep in my sea of loathing
Broken your servant I kneel
(Will you give in to me?)
It seems what's left of my human side
Is slowly changing in me
(Will you give in to me?)

Looking at my own reflection
When suddenly it changes
Violently it changes (oh no)
There is no turning back now
You've woken up the demon in me

[Chorus:]
Get up, come on get down with the sickness [x3]
Open up your hate, and let it flow into me
Get up, come on get down with the sickness
You mother get up come on get down with the sickness
You fucker get up come on get down with the sickness
Madness is the gift, that has been given to me

I can see inside you, the sickness is rising
Don't try to deny what you feel
(Will you give in to me?)
It seems that all that was good has died
And is decaying in me

It seems you're having some trouble
In dealing with these changes
Living with these changes (oh no)
The world is a scary place
Now that you've woken up the demon in me

[Chorus]

(And when I dream) [x4]
No mommy, don't do it again
Don't do it again
I'll be a good boy
I'll be a good boy, I promise
No mommy don't hit me
Why did you have to hit me like that, mommy?
Dont do it, you're hurting me
Why did you have to be such a bitch
Why don't you,
Why don't you just fuck off and die
Why can't you just fuck off and die
Why can't you just leave here and die
Never stick your hand in my face again bitch
FUCK YOU
I don't need this shit
You stupid sadistic abusive fucking whore
How would you like to see how it feels mommy
Here it comes, get ready to die

[Chorus (last line changed to "Madness has now come over me")]

As for APC, that's all Maynard, and no, he's not a big fan of Christianity.
