I think it is time that a serious proposal to help people get out of poverty was made. This involves more than just liberal or conservative ideology. A serious program such as workfare, which combines actual work with government subsidiaries, will be needed if we want to seriously help people climb out of poverty. After all, it is the calling of both the religious and liberals to help the poor. The difference is that the liberal left is basically socialistic or pseudo-socialistic. The problem with a lot of right-wing ideology is that it never really helps a lot of poor people. Sure, being pro-business is good, but it does not offer help for many real-world people. Conservatives and liberals must work together on this subject if any progress is to be made.
I would like to see some positive feedback on this from liberals and conservatives and maybe some actual moderate thinking instead of the usual partisan jargon that regularly fills many of these threads.

It is not the role of the federal government to create jobs!Let the free market prosper by reducing taxation and regulations that cripple the economic sector.Government has no constitutional authority to give us food,clothes,health-care or retirement funds! The government should cut the budget by more than 1/2 and return the power it has stolen back to the states and to the people.Morality should not be legislated by the federal government nor should we look to government to solve our problems.

When will people finally see that responsibility lies with each individual and the government is best when it governs less!
