Are there problems? There were in 2004 and 2000 and instead of folks on the Right attempting to address that they simply scoffed and said "Suck it!" so I'm not overly sympathetic here.
There will always be discrepencies until the Feds run all the elections as a whole. The fact is that the US Election system is a patchwork pile of crap with different technologies, standards, and processes across all the states and sometimes even differing from county to county. It's a formula for disaster and we are lucky it hasn't fallen apart completely yet.
