President Lee Myung-bak returned home Thursday from a trip to Cmabodia and the United Arab Emirates where he laid the groundwork for regional free trade deals and ensured lucrative construction projects will go smoothly after he leaves office. Lee's government has praised Lee's export contract with UAE as an achievement in their resource diplomacy. President Lee Myung-bak made 49 trips to 94 countries during his term. He has made the most number of overseas trips among Korea's presidents. Former President Roh Moo-hyun made 27 trips to 55 countries, former President Kim Dae-jung made 23 trips to 37 countries, and former President Kim Young-sam made 14 trips to 28 countries.
