The impeachment trial is not a typical trial.
-Democrats have no requirement to prove any level of guilt.
-The senators are both the judge and jury.
-There is no standard of proof.
-There is no rules of evidence.
-The outcome is purely political, meaning there is no legal ramifications other than Trump could be removed from office.

It’s a political process in which the democrats will try to weaken the president politically. The Republicans will decide if the democrats weakened the president so much that they need to remove him to provide themselves political cover.

Excellent summation. The purpose of impeachment is to drive a presidents poll numbers down far enough so that power seems to swing away from him. Its that simple...and impossible for them

The Supreme Court has ruled that even a sub-committee could conduct the hearings as it sees fit, report them out and the Senate can dismiss without any further adieu. With or without hearings, witnesses, circuses, feminists giving "death stares" etc..

The decision was 9-0 by the way.

All the high minded talk. As I said in a previous post..when you are beating Democrats ignore their squeals and oinks for standards and fairness they dont believe in. They make a huge nasty fuss as they are dying but it will be worth it in the end.

Yeah a trial has a random jury picked, an impartial judge, a presumption of innocence, an exclusion of hearsay, clearly defined and legislated laws, and forbids personal vendettas or prosecutions that result in advantages for the prosecution.

That wasn't created in Africa. It is our Anglo-Saxon heritage.
