I was considering how difficult it is to address the failing Obamacare. In the end, was this put into place to ensure the spiral of America into socialism?

It would seem to me, if someone were focused on turning America into a socialist, Big Government nation from it's current individual freedom, Republic, nothing would be more powerful than "free" or cheap healthcare, even if it is collapsing. Hell, the collapse might ensure even a FASTER road to Socialism.

Any thoughts on this? It just appears to be an excessive issue to change, because people believe benefits are entitlements that should NEVER be altered...

Hold on to your panties tight, Trumpcare is coming soon, either through congress or through the destruction of that bad Obamacare. So be patient, the greatest and the bestest and the not meanest is coming soon. Donald promised. Hopefully it wasn't one of those lies, you sure will be sad then right?

The reaction from many will be strong, because you cant please everyone. This is a no win situation for the GOP unless they are able to drive premiums down and increase competition significantly.

My guess is everytime the Democrats win an election, a new major government socialist element will be added as they allow the alt-left to guide the party. This time it was healthcare which is very difficult to overturn.

If you think of the future of man I would like to believe we all hope in the future healthcare can be affordable and accessable for everyone. So I would hope for something better than what we had before Obamacare.

You guys wouldn't even fix the pre existing conditions thing. Pure greed and evil.

The people who benefit from Obamacare better vote these midterms and in 2020

the sad thing is, if it's still law they won't vote and if it's not law some may vote.

When you are forced to pay into something to in effect, subsidize the system for insurance companies and others, what would you refer to that as? Free market capitalism? It was from the start and has become a bloated system that many people didn't even see a benefit for themselves and couldn't keep their life long doctors in some instances. The collective telling you what you should do as an individual, against your will and own self interests.

People pay their taxes in an effort to assist the government in performing their duties. That is a fair expectation for the proper function of government. In return, people like myself and many others expect honest, accountable and responsible use of funds. Forcing someone to buy health insurance or pay to opt out is a pure socialist exercise. It's one thing to buy insurance to protect against harm against someone else, but health problems to yourself?

That's no explanation of how the ACA is socialism..

It's corporatism, a type of fascism. But we need a better word. Most people think corporatism is government and business getting in bed together. It can be that, but it's much broader. It's a style of government that, rather than protecting individual rights, distributes power to organized groups. It's those groups that are the "corporations" of corporatism. Sometimes they are, in fact, incorporated businesses, but it's important to recognize that any organized group with political power qualifies.

ACA is a textbook example of corporatism. It's essentially a grant of power to the insurance industry as a whole. They wrote most of the details of the law, and will be heavily involved in it's execution and evolution. It gifts health care consumers to the insurance industry as their perennial cash cow.

Its more of a "fascist" operation by definition. But its socialism. Or simply tyranny. I prefer tyranny.

I am aware of what the ACA in relation to political alignment, but I wanted the "conservatives", I guess that's what they call them to answer the question, now I must shoot you..:Boom2:

Obamacare repeal is flailing because Obamacare is working

But even without improvements, the reality is that for most people, in most places, the Affordable Care Act is working. The bulk of its coverage expansion has been through Medicaid, which is immune to the problems of the insurance marketplaces. Surveys find that Medicaid enrollees really like their coverage; they’re just as satisfied as people who get health insurance at work. Indeed, the Medicaid expansion has proven so popular, and so effective, that Senate Republicans from Medicaid-expanding states like Ohio and Nevada have been fighting to preserve it.
