Paul is insane if he thinks the libertarian right is the salvation of the GOP. Hoffman's defeat clearly reveals that the mainstream Republican Party has rejected the palinistas and sawahpubs.
You read too much into his narrow defeat.

Do you really want to see massive Socialist Landslide Victories in 2010 & 2012? That's what will happen if a Third Party Candidate eats up Conservative votes. Dr. Paul really did nail this one.
C'mon, the battles with Congress would be loads of fun, and would give us a change in perspective...Yea.....Like Hopey Changey Paul is going to change anything.
He is lucky to change his diaper once a day
He's right in the end. If a Third Party Candidate were to run in 2012 it would be a monumental disaster for the Republican Party. The Third Party Candidate to run would likely be a Conservative-leaning Candidate and that would only take votes away from the Republican Party Candidate. That would then only open the door to a massive Democratic Party Victory. The Socialists would just win too easily. So in the end it's that old "Lesser of two Evils" thing. The Republican Party just needs to unite and start listening to real Conservatives like Dr. Paul more often. This can be done. It's just going to take a lot of work. Dr. Paul definitely nailed this one.

I agree, but sadly, to even get noticed, you have to be registered under one of the two parties. He's right in the end. This country needs a third party. And badly. The two who presently pass power back and forth have fucked over America long enough. Tough shit for the Republican party. They've had their chance to do the right thing. So have the demoncwats.

It's more pragmatism than pimping a party label...
What this Republic needs, are employers with a spine. Duty, honor, country used to be more than just words. For many, I don't think they have a real clue what that means. He's right in the end. What he actually said is that there's no point to running in a third party as the Democrat and Republican duopoly makes it all but impossible for a third party to do anything substantial.
Ironically enough, Sarah Palin was on Ron Paul's list of VP choices.I wish there were more Ron Paul's and less Sarah Palin's in the GOP.

I guess even the "great ones" can make some huge mistakes every now and again.
