Bush and the GOP Congress created a new special interest group in 2005 when they established the federal ethanol mandate.
Because of that mandate, some businessmen invested in ethanol manufacturing. And that sector is now a part of our infrastructure. This means they will fight tooth and nail to keep their federally mandated supply chain intact.
Obama is triangulating. What will get him more votes? Preserving Bush's ethanol mandate or not preserving it.
Apparently he has decided keeping the ethanol special interest group happy is more beneficial to him, just like it was for Bush.
So much for free market economy vs. central planning.
We lose.
obama is both powerless and senseless and cannot determine a state of emergency which would lead the ordinary person to conclude that ethanol mandates put in place during record or even ordinary times are harmful right now.
Did Bush drop the ethanol mandate during the 2008 drought?
Nope.
Not even when Texas Governor Rick Perry asked him to.
The parties can point fingers at each other all day.
But they both support the mandate that makes fuel less efficient......
