The LA Mayor, Anotonio Villawhocares said something about the 2012 RNC; that they were just trying to put a brown face on their policies (of course he backed away from that).
Ironically though, that is exactly how Barry Soetoro kick started his presidential campaign. John Kerry handpicked him during the 04 DNC to be the brown face for what Dems believe. By many accounts, he even stole the show and he set his stage for 2012.
Hillary Clinton refused to campaign for BO in 2012 (so did Oprah on a side note). It could have been her, giving the keynote speech. But since she stabbed him in the back, he picked a Hispanic Mayor from San Antonio (of all people) and he gave a solid speech (by Democratic standards). He seems to have maybe even made himself a challenger to Hillary in 2016.
Just as Hillary could not win in 08 b/c she could not get enough minorities, so may have Obama passed that torch to that mayor for 2016
