Oh too freaking funny. How inspiring!!

But contrary to what the might ad suggest, the spot was actually filmed in New Orleans and Los Angeles. “Yes, part of it was filmed in New Orleans . . . and some was filmed in various parts—such as Los Angeles,” Dianna Gutierrez said. She specifically points to the tunnel scenes as being taken at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, while the stadium shots were in New Orleans.

Asked whether any part of the ad was filmed in Detroit, Gutierrez said that previously taken footage from various parts of the Motor City was used.

No image of Detroit was shot for the specific use in this ad.

And? Your point?

The ad is fraudulent. And Chrysler and GM has seriously outsourced jobs to China. Maybe they should have had background from Shanghai.

I think they're (GM)are up to 8 plants in China now.

Thanks Rick Snyder for doing away with the Movie tax. It was brining in millions of dollars and tons of jobs and you didn't want to pick winners and losers. So you drove out an industry. Thanks. Who needs that Liberal Hollywood Money anyways.

Um, it's television?
Er, you do know that Star Wars was not really shot in space?
You know when Jack Nicholson goes "here's Johnny" in the Shining, he is acting right? He really didn't kill anybody
ET was a prosthetic as was Bruce the shark in Jaws...

Do I need to go on?

no the ad is typical. Tons of people film in other places besides hollywood because its cheaper, or they like what the shot will look like.

who gives a shit.

Oh the American Auto worker...

Hey Chinese workers are doing just great by GM for example. Do you have any idea how many factories GM closed in the US?

Meanwhile after all the money GM got from the taxpayer....

GM weighs China plants, sees big Sail exports

BEIJING (Reuters) - General Motors, the top U.S. automaker, is considering adding new plants in China in 2011 and after, a senior executive said on Tuesday, as it moves to meet steady demand in the world's top auto market.

Meanwhile back in America both GM and the UAW wanted to cut these workers wages in half. And this is from the World Socialist web site.

General Motors closes Indianapolis stamping plant
By Andre Damon
8 July 2011

On June 30, General Motors closed its stamping plant in downtown Indianapolis. The 80-year-old plant was the scene of a struggle by auto workers last year against the efforts of GM and the UAW to cut their wages in half.

In May 2010, workers voted by a 95 percent margin against reopening their contract with GM and barred the UAW from negotiating with JD Norman, a corporate raider seeking to buy the plant. Two months later workers chased UAW International officials out of a local union meeting after the UAW executive revealed they had continued negotiations behind their backs.

It's a lie. Far different from movies based on novels.

Flint, Mich., once a city of 200,000 and growing, is down to 110,000 and still shrinking. Dozens of proposals have been floated through the years to somehow slow the endless decline, but another is rapidly gaining support: speed it up, and let the forest reclaim decaying neighborhoods.

Detroit

Just an FYI

If you did not get the essence of the chimerical... it was not about bringing back detroit as in the city of detroit. ... it was a car chimerical.

With all due respect, I know that. That was the title of the article I linked to.

Everyone is running around these days with a warm and fuzzy about GM and Chrysler.

What is sort of shocking is the number of libs who are all of a sudden pro a large corporations who are slashing and burning US and Canadian plants that have existed forever and building plants in China instead.

American and Canadian autoworkers have taken the brunt of this.

Then i dont see what the problem is with it. Its a car commercial...not a bring back the city of detroit chimerical. Therefor why would they need to film the commercial in detroit.

I blame the unions for the situation the auto industry is in.

The unions are the ones who fucked them.

And....?

In other news: Betty White was not really singing in the ad for "The Voice" and the Chocolate M&M was not really naked.

That WAS a Chrysler commercial....their home office is in Detroit. I've been there many times....you would think at least SOME of the commercial would have been filmed in Detroit!! But, it's not a very pretty city anymore, they probably couldn't find a decent area to film, and of course they wouldn't want obama's followers to see what he HASN'T done to help them!!

Thank you.

And the ad was specifically about Detroit. It's unreal. And I'm not pro union by any means. But the damage done by any plant closure to non union workers is horrific.

I know GM better than Chrysler because my husband worked for PPG at Saturn in Spring Hill for years till he was transferred to Chrysler in Canada, so I have far more examples of the slash and burn that GM has handed to workers.

I found this gem when I was checking on the Viper.

As part of its well-publicized bankruptcy and restructuring, Chrysler will permanently shutter six of its facilities, one of which is the only plant that builds the Dodge Viper.

That’s on top of word that all Chrysler factories and assembly plants will be put on hold for 60 days while the automaker attempts to emerge from what executives are calling a “surgical” bankruptcy.

Despite the White House’s assurance that no plants would be closed during the bankruptcy, court papers filed early this morning in New York indicate that Chrysler will close its Sterling Heights Assembly in Sterling Heights, Michigan, Detroit Axle, Conner Avenue in Detroit, St. Louis North Assembly in Fenton, Missouri, Kenosha Engine in Wisconsin and Twinsburg Stamping in Ohio

Fiat who now owns Chrysler is taking their production to China as well.

I did a google search and I couldn't locate any Detroit in any Chinese province.

Look it's a dream for Fiat/Chrysler.

As recently as two years ago Chrysler and Chery were more than cozy and working on Chinese-market products that would eventually make their way this way. Nothing ultimately came of it, but Chrysler hasn't given up on the Chinese dream. Or more accurately, Fiat hasn't given up on the Chinese dream on behalf of Chrysler.

Fiat, which has had its own setbacks in trying to find the right joint venture required to do business in China, is now working with Guangzhou Auto. It isn't clear how or even if Chrysler would immediately try again, since The Pentastar's "models were as popular as Chen Shui Bian towards the end of their tenure."

Another route would be for the Chrysler Group to let Jeep lead the charge, since the Jeep brand and small SUVs are a more welcome option for Chinese buyers. It is inevitable that Chrysler will keep trying to crack the world's largest auto market, and if we were presumptuous enough to suggest a way to do it, we'd only need two words: Dodge Hornet.
