Doing research on Operation Fast and Furious takes a little digging. Its Wikipedia page (Operation Fast and Furious - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) needs a lot of work, please help.
Operation Fast and Furious allowed, in some cases pressured, small gun shops near the border to sell firearms, including assault weapons to known Mexican criminals. As you will recall when the story originally broke that is as deep as the media got. It was reported that it was an ATF operation, involving ATF only.
It is now being discovered that the Department of Justice may have been behind the planning and goals of the operation, helping secure a $100,000,000 budget for failed Operation Fast and Furious.
It was originally reported that many were dumbfounded that the ATF would attempt such an ethically flawed operation with international implications at a time when its budget was being reduced. Many within the ATF supposedly protested to supervisors, protests that were ignored.
It is now being reported through whistleblowers that the intention of Operation Fast and Furious was to track gun sales to Mexico to build a case against the American Gun Industry and the 2nd Amendment; going after through litigation to destroy the right to arms and the ability to sell arms of Americans.
This is going to have huge implications if proven true, and I see fear in U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder during that hearing. This has Obama written all over it: secrecy, extremism, the use of Federal Agents.
The Dept. of Justice and Eric Holder have refused to turn over any documents. They have ignored subpoenas and demand letters from the United States Congressagain Obama written all over it. They have refused to release a single document in regards to Operation Fast and Furious. $100,000,000 was spent on giving weapons to drug cartels--cartels slaughtering people in Mexico, and tracking these weapons, documenting the destruction. Agents have come forward testifying that ATF leadership protested this operation. No wonder Obama doesn't want to stop illegal immigration, he's arming murders there.
The Dept. of Justice is about to be held in contempt by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. All because Eric Holder refuses to cooperate and release any information--because it is going to be damning.
