Dems want tax on "rich": Whoever they are

Sure. Except after 30 years of Voodoo, the top 400 FAMILIES control 50% of the wealth. Lots of big secrets the Foxbots don't have a clue about......lol!

You haven't replied to this yet--or are you purposefully trying to avoid it. This man Steve Wynn is a major donor and supporter of HARRY REID--democrat senate majority leader.

“I’m saying it bluntly, that this administration is the greatest wet blanket to business, progress and job creation in my lifetime. A lot of people don’t want to say that. They’ll say, ‘Oh God, don’t be attacking Obama.’ Well, this is Obama’s deal, and it’s Obama that’s responsible for this fear in America.”

“The guy [Obama] keeps making speeches about redistribution, and maybe ‘we ought to do something to businesses that don’t invest or hold too much money.’ We haven’t heard that kind of talk except from pure socialists.”

“Business is being hammered. The business community in this country is frightened to death of the weird political philosophy of the president of the United States. Until he’s gone, everybody’s going to be sitting on their thumbs.”
Democrat--Steve Wynn of Wynn's resort and casino--Las Vegas Nevada.

I left the Republican party in 1992 also. It became clear that they were no longer a party with my interests at heart and were going to slash taxes and increase spending regardless of the cost. The GOP makes no pretext of standing up for working Americans and ensuring a level playing field

We, as a nation, gave republicans a chance to prove their ideology. We slashed taxes, deregulated business, ran up debt........the promised jobs and prosperity never appeared. Time to reverse those failed policies and return to some sanity

You were a Republican...and I was a Rockette...

It's amazing how all you who spend all day blowing the Marxist in the White House used to be Republicans until you woke up one day and realized that OMG, they aren't socialists. I'm not sure why you all make that argument, it's pretty stupid. Wouldn't it be easier to just be Democrats? They already are socialists.

I do admire on the left though how the more you get what you want the more desperately shrill you become that you're losing everything. There is no rational way to respond to that drivel. Our country is far more socialist then at any time in our history. Our government confiscates and spends one out of every 4 dollars generated in this country. Yet you can still whine and try to maintain a straight face that there is no government left at all. Gotcha, "right" winger...

I am still a registered Republican...FACT

I voted for Reagan and Daddy Bush four times ....FACT

I hate what has become of the once Grand Old Party.......FACT

You have no idea what socialism is....FACT

Yeah, most Americans are pretty clueless about what real socialism in a democracy looks like.

Yeah, most Americans are pretty clueless about what real socialism in a democracy looks like.

Your definition is political, not economic, which is why "I" don't understand it.

I'm actually an MBA in Finance from Michigan, a top 10 Finance school. I am in the Financial Management National Honor Fraternity for my grades in Finance. I worked in the Global Investment Banking group at Bankers Trust in NY and as an associate in the Financial Services group of Booz Allen Hamilton, which is a management Strategy firm. I also worked in financial systems in GE Capital and GE Consumer finance.

I guess I was out the day they told me government control of markets removing consumer choice for the interest of political power for politicians wasn't socialism, it was capitalism. My bad.

People voting for government to remove choice doesn't change that choice was removed. Then again my goal in this is individual freedom and yours is mob rule. Tyranny of the majority is still tyranny on individual rights. Capitalism is when individuals make their own choice. Removal of their right to do so by a central government is socialism no matter whether that central government doesn't face elections or is elected by the majority to impose their will on the rest of us.

Wow....I, for one am impressed

Where exactly is the government controlling the means of production? You think that as a consumer, you have complete control of choice? You can buy any prescription medicine you want? You can buy any weapon you would like to own? You can build anything you want on your property?

You belong to a society, being a member of a society means you make certain concessions to the good of the whole. That is not socialism

The government doing things to help the people is not socialism

That's nice. I grew up and lived the first few decades of my life in the birthplace of socialism in North America, and was active in the political process to help dismantle socialism. I have an Honours degree in finance, an MBA, a CFA, have spent most of my career on the buy side working with multi-billion organizations, was in the top 2% in the country when I was a portfolio manager, testified in front of Congress, and speak with the occasional billionaire in my current position. Having lived in Canada, the UK and the US, having seen real socialism up close, and having listened to the political dialogue in America, I can safely say that most Americans - especially most right wing American - do not know real socialism. If you think this is real socialism now, well, lol.

BTW capitalism isn't necessarily the freedom to make individual choices. Capitalism is a system of the organization and ownership of the capital stock in private hands. Capitalism can also be fascism. Capitalism isn't necessarily the free market. Capitalism can also be monopolies.

Capitalism is supply and demand. No, you can't demand something in capitalism and have it magically supplied. Take an economics 101 course (literally) and study the basics of a supply and demand course and get back to me. Even a rudimentary knowledge of economics on your part would make for a fruitful discussion. Your rant which has nothing to do with economics but as I pointed out has all to do with politics is a tangent.

Lions tigers and bears oh my......
Cops aren't legally obligated to protect anyone so you are paying for something you may or may not get

I get tired of firemen association calling my house asking for money
For the poor little children always when the guberment needs more money they use children has their victims
oh my

Make sure you call your GOP reps and demand that they run for re-election on an anti-cop and firefighter platform. They'll probably be with you on teachers. They know that dummies elected them.
anti cop? It's not being anti cop saying that the cops are not legally obilgated to protect anyone.
It's not anti firemen when you are tired of paying taxes and the firemen call your house at least twice a month asking for money.

So what is your point then?

Are you claiming that cops are unwilling to protect the public? Or that cops are allowed to put their personal safety ahead of protecting someone?

If you think this is real socialism now, well, lol.

This is the crux, you aren't arguing my position. But while saying you are against socialism you are endlessly arguing on behalf of a party that is moving unflinchingly in exactly that direction.

I majored in finance and economics and capitalism isn't just supply and demand graphs.

My post was exactly in reply to the quote that I posted. I directly addressed your question if in capitalism the market can demand something and get it. The answer, from econ 101 is no, there has to be supply.

You are the one injecting politics in this. I don't argue for one party. What I do is tear down the shibboleths, myths and inaccuracies of ideology, especially those of the rigid adherents.

To fear sociazlism in a country that is already purchased by the corporation is complete stupidity.

53% of republicans believe taxes on the rich should be raised.

Are the republicans in office doing what they people want?

HELL NO!

They are doing the bidding of the Koch brothers instead of what the majority of their voters want.

RIGHT BEFORE AN ELECTION!

They dont work for you.

They work for the corporations

See Toro, your silence on our communist little honey belies that you argue what you believe, not a side, and that you're against socialism. You are against it, but the only ones you will argue with are the ones who are against it.

I posted about how consumers have no choice to buy any prescription drug they want to. Has nothing to do with supply and demand. Are you sure you have a degree?

Even us lowly sewer workers understand it

Right. This coming from the guy who said debt to GDP fell to the lowest level since WWII under Reagan.

Outstanding.
