To all of you conservatives, the left always shows you who they fear the most, and right now Romney is it, he has an awesome business resume, appeals to independents who are fiscally conservative but no so socially. Independents make up 40% of our vote- we need them in order to win. It is a sad day when the President has such a failed record that he can't run on it, so now it will be personal attacks against Romney who they know will beat their candidate.

The dramatic and unabashedly negative turn is the product of political reality. Obama remains personally popular, but pluralities in recent polling disapprove of his handling of his job, and Americans fear the country is on the wrong track. His aides are increasingly resigned to running for reelection in a glum nation. And so the candidate who ran on “hope” in 2008 has little choice four years later but to run a slashing, personal campaign aimed at disqualifying his likeliest opponent.



Good luck getting that done, as Mitt is an awesome business man of great character and distinction. He is also mormon and I have known mormons and worked for them, you won't find a higher degree of integrity and honesty among any religious group of people, they are brought up that way.It's pounded into them from a very early age.

He is a state's right guy and health care is a state problem and not a federal one, keep in mind that he had to work with a democrat legislature in order to pass anything, and any program on health care is not going to work from the starting gate, there will be kinks in the system and from what I understand lately, his plan has gained a good deal of support in Ma. And when you put him up against Obama it's a hands down win Mitt.

They investigated Clinton for like 7 years because he lost money in a stupid land deal.

I dont have any problem with vetting a candidate and you shouldnt either.

Barack Obama and his cohorts--don't have a record to run on--in fact it's non existent or negative--so they're only option is to make petty-- personal-&-ugly attacks--against anyone who oppose's them.

Mitt Romney on Health Care


I agree with mandating that people who can afford their own plan pay for it out of their own pocket, as it raises premiums and health care costs for everyone else. It's unfortunate, but there is no way that we will ever be able to legislate " personal responsibility," so therefore some will have to be mandated to pay.

Base health care system on free choice & private medicine
Congressional Democrats are gearing up to take over the health care system. We need to advance a conservative plan--one based on free choice, personal responsibility, and private medicine; one that doesn't add massive new federal spending. I like what I proposed in Massachusetts when I was governor. And even though the final bill and its implementation aren't exactly the way I wanted, the plan is a good model. Today, almost every Massachusetts citizen who had been uninsured now has private, free-market coverage, and we didn't have to raise taxes or borrow money to make it happen. We may find even better ideas in other states. But let's make certain that conservative principles are front and center. A big-government takeover of health care is the next thing liberals are going to try, and it's the last thing America needs.

With regards to my health care plan, let me describe what is the ultimate conservative approach. In this country, you have today about 47 million people that don’t have health insurance. We went out and tried to find out why they don’t. We found out that about half of them could afford to buy insurance if it were reasonably priced. They could afford to buy it, but they weren’t buying it. it? If we get sick, we can go to the hospital and get care for free.“ And we said: what? If somebody could afford insurance, they should either buy the insurance or pay their own way. They don’t have to buy insurance if they don’t want to, but pay their own way. But they shouldn’t be allowed to just show up at the hospital and say, somebody else should pay for me. So we said: No more free riders. It was like bringing “workfare” to welfare. We said: If you can afford insurance, then either have the insurance or get a health savings account. Pay your own way, but no more free ride. That was what the mandate did.
