"Dems split as impeachment whispers get louder," was an article written by Michael Powell of the Washington Post and posted to the MSNBC web site on March 25, 2006.

This article is further evidence of the Liberals and the Bush Haters continue their collective march off the deep end of American politics. While most Democrats reject the loon-icy of the left, their views are being drowned out the shrill exploitive statements and views of loopy leftist.

In this article by Michael Powell, the impeach Bush movement is somehow gaining momentum. This is little more than fantasy by the "wacky" left. While it is true that Americans are increasing uneasy with the pace of the war, and the loss of life in Iraq it is a extreme exaggeration to claim that this movement has any momentum at all.

The left loves to point to polls searching for validation from Americans. Week after week a new poll claiming, "Most Americans what troops home now, Bush approval ratings at all time low," or "Bush lied," are all attempts by the left to spin its propaganda. My personal favorite, "Conservative support for Bush falling."

The left fails to realize that the only poll that has any merit was concluded over a year and a half ago, called the National Election. That poll showed that more than 1/2 the country supported President Bush. The Democrats haven't received the same support since FDR.

So Loopy Lefties, continue to poll us to death, but reality will not change. Your ideas and vision for America will continue to be rejected by polls that count.

I urge fair minded Democrats to speak up and be heard regarding your party’s treasonous rhetoric at a time of war. The leadership of the Democratic Party has constantly undermined the war effort. Many on the right view the undermining of war effort as treasonist and further suggest that these individuals be held to account. Perhaps not a bad idea. The Leadership of the Democratic Party have not engaged in a constructive debate, but rather provided our enemies with a complicit and trusted ally in the Democratic Party.

Democrats should just come out and say, they support the views of Al Qaeda more than that of the President of the United States and Democrats are against surveillance of our enemies and they should be allowed to conspire and plot their attacks against citizens of the United Stated unfettered. That would be honest. However, that is exactly why Democrats wouldn’t do it, because it is honest.

Ben “nighthorse” Cambell, former Senator from Colorado, joined the Republican Party when he realized the Democrats were out of step with mainstream American values. I would urge fair minded Democrats to open your eyes to the obvious; the Democratic Party has been hijacked by a people that put the interests of our enemies above the security of the citizens of the United States of America. Do fair minded Democrats really want to defined and lead by members of the party such as Senators Kennedy, Kerry, Clinton, Feingold and Reid? The leader of the Democratic party is Howard Dean! Jimmy Carter is running around the world disgracing the United States. How can Democrats expect America to take this Party seriously when it is lead by such idiots?

Thanks for the article and welcome. I wonder why we haven't heard from a pollster who has asked directly "Should Bush be Impeached ? " Do I hear a chicken??

But what he hatched was a lead balloon, and accept for a handful of senators, most stood aside of the incoming. Too bad that happened, but in my opinion it will fizzle out if it hasn't already, and not constitute the biggest backfire tactic of the year.

Never ever, never underestimate the Democrats tendency to implode! It's what's kept the GOP in power.

You're absolutely correct. As they continue their screeching mantra of impeachment, and opposition to wiretapping the enemy I see good things in the GOPs future.

Well dang it, give me the rep you have! Lol. Actually, I think, not sure, that you can rep, just not carry any poin†s.

This is why the country is where it is. We have 1 party thats a bunch of freaking crybaby losers and the other thats the default winner. Where the hell is Newt when you need him? This would have been squashed a long time ago if was still Speaker.

My point exactly, if it weren't for the implosions by the left, the right wouldn't win. But they do, so they do.

Agreed--Newt is the only one that I hear coming on strong with common sense. We need him.

I would agree, Frist in comparison has not been as strong. But, I think the rules of the game have completely changed. Now, there are no rules. Democrats have taken the rule book and torn out all the pages. They have no plan no agenda, they just hate Bush. They have Carter and Gore standing on foreign soil undermining the President. The Democrats are providing aid and comfort to the enemy on the floor of Congress.

Republicans better realize quickly that there is another war, war for the hearts and minds of Americans. If Democrats get back into power, in their current form, this country is deep poop. This is not a time for a Party that has weak character and cloudy vision to lead this country. Bush had a strong week, but he has to keep it up.

Im not worried about impeachment. Im more worried some lunatic liberal is going to try to take out the President permanently. Their hatred is so irrational. And they are going to lose it even more if they again lose seats in the house and Senate, and thats very possible.

Their justification is a sense of entitlement. They will attempt to gain power at any cost.

doubt that. Cause who would president then? Darth Cheney.

Many moons ago I told you people that this would happen. This is payback for impeaching Bubba only thing though is Bush is supplying them with copious amounts of ammo. Funny thing is the roles are reversed now and the dems were saying the same things about irrational hate etc. etc. as Repubs are saying now.

Ain't American politics grand?

This is exactly what I'm talking about. I would like to hear the copious amounts of ammo? And I'm not sure about what you are talking about role reversal? Please expound? I am eager to hear what you have to say. I'm sure it's well thought out...

Feingold Campaigns For Retreat From Iraq -- In Iraq

We used to say that American politics stopped at the water's edge, a reminder that we confine our policy debates within our own borders and project a united front abroad. That splendid tradition died a few years ago, starting with Jimmy Carter's open conflict with Bill Clinton in North Korea and Haiti and escalating during the war on terror. However, American politicians have at least understood that when traveling to the war zone, the troops and the public expect them to stick to supportive statements and not engage in protests against our mission. At least, they used to understand that -- but Wisconsin Senator and 2008 presidential hopeful Russ Feingold decided to make his visit to Iraq a soapbox to bolster his anti-war credentials:

The increasingly rancorous public debate in the United States over the war spilled into Iraq during a news conference Saturday with two visiting lawmakers who are outspoken in their opposing stands on the issue.

Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.), a longtime supporter of the Bush administration's Iraq policy, and Russell Feingold (D-Wis.), who voted against the invasion and has spoken out against the war ever since, said they had come not to air their divergent views but to urge Iraqi politicians to speed up the process of forming a government. But during questions from reporters, they argued -- cordially and pointedly -- over such issues as the timing of any withdrawal of U.S. troops and whether their continued presence is doing more harm than good.

Feingold said he believed "a large troop presence has a tendency to fuel the insurgency because they can make the incorrect and unfair claim that the U.S. is here to occupy the country."

"I think that it's very possible that the sectarian differences are inflamed by the fact that U.S. troops are here," he continued, adding that their long-term presence "may well be destabilizing, not stabilizing."

John McCain declined to get any further into the argument, telling reporters that the debate belonged on the Senate floor. It certainly didn't belong in Baghdad, where our troops have put their lives at risk to make their mission a success, and where the terrorists could find encouragement in his repetition of their own propaganda. Even Rep. Tom Udall, Feingold's Democratic colleague from New Mexico and a member of the delegation in Baghdad, noted that Feingold had broken the tradition of avoiding disagreements abroad, especially in a war zone.

Wisconsin voters should be ashamed of their Senator. It's bad enough that Feingold is using an extra-Constitutional censure against George Bush in order to bolster his candidacy. Now he has to take his defeatist demands for retreat into the war zone while we're fighting al-Qaeda and attempting to rebuild Iraq into a representative democracy. It's a shameful episode that may not have any equivalent in American history.

The Senate should immediately consider a censure of Russ Feingold for his shocking political exploitation of what should have been a nonpartisan investigatory trip to Baghdad. The Senate needs to set an example of how lawmakers traveling to Baghdad should comport themselves while representing America in Iraq. Using such a trip as a soapbox in this manner should not be tolerated.

UPDATE: Udall may have noted that Feingold broke tradition, but that didn't stop him from chiming in himself. Chris at In The Bullpen notes in an e-mail that Udall also told reporters that the US should abandon Iraq:

"The longer we say, as President Bush did this week, that we're going to be there until 2009, what incentive is there for the Iraqis to step forward?" said Udall, who voted against going to war and who has advocated rapid troop withdrawal for many months.

On Saturday, Udall used the term "redeploy" instead of "withdraw," explaining US forces should be moved to Kuwait and nearby nations to "get the best result for our troops and the Iraqis."

We should censure Udall, too. These arguments could easily have waited until both were back in the US. Instead, the two Democrats decided to grandstand on the backs of our troops.
