Democrats, Not GOP, Mostly Controlled Congress Under Obama

Instead of accepting responsibility for the nation’s ills, Obama apologists regularly blame
Republicans in Congress for blocking the president’s recovery agenda. This contention ignores the fact that the GOP controlled only one half of Congress for one half of Obama’s term. Democrats have run the Senate for his full term, and controlled the House of Representatives for half that term.

In other words, during Obama’s time in office Democrats exerted 75 percent of Congressional control. He got approval for his stimulus package, Obamacare, Dodd-Frank banking regulation, and all his major initiatives. If he had really wanted to hike taxes on the rich, he easily could have done so in his first two years in office. When it comes to his failures as president, Obama has no one to blame but himself—and his own party.

Tipsheet

This should put the lies to rest. Obama and his party of liars have ownership of the economy.

"We all belong to"????

Obama said he didn't need the Republicans. He won. We lost. We can ride along but have to sit in the back. Yada yada.

He is the one who chose to put us through the wringer with Obamacare instead of paying attention to the economy.

And now hopefully America will give him the pink slip he so richly deserves.

So Mitch McConnel and John Boehnor saying their primary mission was to be sure Obama wasn't reelected had nothing to do with this mess....dream on

Thanks so much for sharing your opinion. It's sad that you never took Civics or U. S. History and have little or no understanding of checks and balances or the rules in the House of Representatives or the Senate. But don't ever let that stop you from expressing your opinion. Ignorance shared is informative, not in the way you hope to inform, but informative it is.

John Boehner said that?

In late October 2010, after Obama had already given us Obamacare and had massively increased our debt without making sure the money was being spent well, Mitch McConnell said that if Republicans wanted to undo the damage Democrats had done then it would not be enough to take back the Congress and Senate. That we would also need to take back the White House. Otherwise Obama would veto our attempts.

So heck yes, McConnell said we needed to be sure Obama was not reelected. And if Boehner said it too, then he was also correct.

If Obama had put the money where his mouth was with regards to infrastructure, if he had helped more jobs become shovel ready, if he had made sure his mortgage program was being properly administered, then he would have deserved another term. But he didn't. So we did what we could in the 2010 elections but that wasn't enough to undo Obamacare, so duh, our next goal would be to oust Obama in 2012.
