Dems Growing Convinced That GOP Will Try To Force Shutdown Over Health Care Funds

Liberals love that "not for profit" idea thinking that profits are somehow evil. What Liberals always forget is that "evil profits" are what drove the research and development that brought us the worlds best health care.

Most real innovative R&D is conducted by public universities. Big Pharma is only interested in maintenance drugs that can make them money. They now spend twice as much on advertising than R&D, which is already a pittance of their profits spent. Another republican propaganda point.

You left out the part about evil conservatives making the elderly eat dog food... if your gonna rant like a programmed loon.. get it right!

What would happen if you cut social security off? My grandmother worked for 60 years and guess what her pension payment was each month - $108. This is not uncommon. How much will my savings today be worth 60 years from now? It's possible that it could work out to a pittance as well. What would you have people do who do not receive enough to live on, nor do they get a pension, and make no extra money to invest? Jobs are disappearing and those that are there are paying 20-30% less than they were before Wall St. collapsed the world's economy? What do you suggest? Please, tell me what you'd rather pay for... the wars or an at least dignified standard of living for our citizens.

Social Security was not, nor ever was supposed to be your retirement income. It is a SUPPLEMENT. Don't have enough money? Keep working. Before you suggest that is wrong, guess how Congress has fixed it lately? Expanding the age of retirement. Your grandmother and everyone else is given the opportunity to spend their money in whatever manner they choose. Guess she should have saved more huh? Now she reaps what she sowed.

Did I say that? I did not. I said that the only way everyone is going to be able to afford health insurance is to take the profit equation out of it, which is the harsh truth... it would become more like a utility (which due to the cost, it is). When the majority of your population would not be able to afford your product on their own (ie, not through employers, etc.), something is seriously wrong.

It's all politics to you isnt it? It doesnt matter that we are bankrupt and the health care bill makes things worse for our health care sysem. All you care about is getting your power back.

Rather sad.

Where are you from in Philly, Chestnut Hill? You sound like it, anyway, the rightwingers haven't proven that this bill is going to bring more debt, its political bullshat babbling to distract from the fact that they're tools for the health care companies.

What's to prove? I have 50 years of evidence that every government entitlement ends up bankrupt....
...And, as usual, you forgot to post allllllllllllllllllllllllllll o' those examples......again.

My grandmonther is no longer alive. She was VERY frugal, saved every penny, and don't forget, when she was working, (she was a widower) women made 40 cents on every man's dollar. My point is, almost 40% of this country hold no ascernable wealth whatsoever. Cost of living goes up exponentially, while wages are stagnant and now declining and jobs are scarce. Whatever SS started out as, it has become an absolute necessity, hasn't it? So, what would you have told her?

Just like heartless leftists to throw gramma out into the streets and make gubmint take care of her.

Are you going to answer my questions or continue to throw out one liners?
Your "questions" amount to nothing but the same old dreck from the socialist nutbar coloring book.

So, they'll get all the consideration that they deserve....Like none.

Without profits, there's nothing to tax. That's how stupid they are. Everything they hold dear requires somebody to make a lot of money.. God knows they don't want to pay for it.. it's always the other guy. As the other guy decreases in numbers, the other guy's profits must go up to compensate for the loss of numbers in the tax base.

These people are utterly clueless.

What the HELL are you yammering about? Here's how a co-op works, moron. Say you've got 200 million people who all pay in $50 a month. Now you have enough money to pay off any insurance claims and the small administrative costs, the balance rolls over and the process begins anew the next month, and the next... now there is no government subsidy needed. What profit taxing has anything to do with an independent non-profit insurance co-op? What part of no government money needed do you not get?

Right... you can't answer them so you post pouty messages like the one above like a petulant 12 year old. Got it. You people make me tired.

Pouty schmouty.

The only pouting here is from you, sniveling about how awful it is that someone should actually *GAAAAAASSSSP* profit from devoting their life to medicine.

We're talking about health insurance providers. They have nothing to do with medicine other than taking your money and standing between you and your doctor, dictating what kind of care you can get (or if you can get it). That ain't dedicating your life to medicine. That's exploiting sick (and healthy) people to make a buck. Come on, now... call a spade a spade.

Doesn't matter.

If you got everything you wanted in this business, you'd move along to the next "absolutely vital" industry to loot with your benevolent Marxist patronage.

Doesn't matter what you do, it'll never be enough for the committed statist thug.

Um, moron. What part of the word option do you not understand? You can keep your overpriced for-profit insurance company, since you love contributing to their fleecing of America so much, but the rest of us... what was that poll number, oh yeah, it's about 78%, want a public option to be available. Capiche?

Imagine what this would do for the private sector if they no longer had to foot any part of the bill for their employees' insurance. Imagine if all chefs like my brother could have insurance while they are working their way up in their careers, even though they only make $10 an hour.

This plan is actually pro-business. How is that marxist? Do you know what a marxist is? I am guessing "not" due to your posts.

Yeah....Imagine.

Wouldn't it be nice if a gubmint commissar...er....I mean magic fairy came down and made all your free-everything-for-everyone dreams come true?

Seems every topic is but a six-degree separation away from....

Can't refute the message, so you have to resort in typical posturing. Duly noted.... Of course, shrub had NO role in the mess we're in...

Bush is responsible for health care costs? Who knew?
Pretty-much....everyone who's been paying-attention.....

"Medicare Part D was passed in 2003 under President George Bush as part of the Medicare Modernization Act and took effect on Jan. 1, 2006.

Approximately 75 percent of drug coverage is financed by the federal government and 25 percent by beneficiaries through monthly premiums, co-payments, co-insurance and deductibles. As opposed to traditional Medicare, in which the government directly pays providers for services, Part D coverage is privatized--meaning government tax-payer funds and contributions from beneficiaries are passed on to private insurers to manage benefits.

Instead of the government negotiating prices with drug companies, price controls are left up to the market, which critics argue makes the prices and the program overall too expensive. There is also no standardization of coverage and benefits. Private insurers have created hundreds of different plans with different formularies, co-pays, premiums and deductibles, which critics argue confuse members in trying to choose a plan."

How is 200 million people paying $50 a month into an insurance pool getting anything for free - they're still paying for their health care? You are seriously dense.

What's to refute, besides hackneyed old leftist kook boilerplate yammering points, along with the tired out old refrain of GEORGE BOOOOOOOSH!?

Really, time to go out and buy a new record to break.

Goofball spitting nothing but personal attacks and lame insults and making no points whatsoever. Imbecile.

Yet, she managed to live her working life on her pay. If she had saved roughly 10% from every paycheck, she should have been able to live the same life style throughout her retirement. I would have told her she retired too early.

The cost of living goes up because consumers find ways to purchase stuff they don't need. This is accomplished through credit. Now its so bad, states are going to go bankrupt. So much for full faith and crtedit of the government. How are they going to take care of the entitlement crowd then hmmm?
