Democrats - What compels you to be a member of the Democratic political party or why do you vote Democratic? Inquiring minds want to know.

why do I vote democrat?

I do not belong to the democratic party

I probably would never join ANY party with the possible exception of a party that REALLY ESPOUSED and PROMOTED freedom and truth and civilty....

In my home state I vote both R and D because I trust MANY OF OUR STATE republicans (most of whom are considered RINOS by conservatives)

nationally I almost ALWAYS vote democrat because

1. they are so inept that can't actually get much done!
2. I believe them to be more tolerant and kinder towards all subgroups of america, no matter how idiotic they sound
3. they are NOT waging a culture war on everyone who isn't on their team

I generally do NOT vote for republicans, nationally, because

1. THEIR BASE is far too angry and intolerant and seemingly full of a hatred that I find dangerous and frightening and I want NO PART OF.
2. they ARE waging a culture war against everyone who isn't on their team.
3. though they DENY they want to enact christian laws the evidence seems to indicate that they would litigate christian law quicker than you can say "the 10 commandments should be the law of the land"

who would I LIKE to vote for, nationally?

a john mccain whose base is NOT hard core far right evangelical conservatives
or colin powell

bottom line;
I tend to vote D nationally because I consider them the lesser of 2 evils.

Because their Teachers, Union Bosses, and Hollywood elitists tell them to.

if true then it is certainly no different than the conservatives who are being "told to vote" for republicans by their church leaders, fox news, conservative talk (hate) radio etc....

and it is probably just as unfair/fair to suggest that liberal/democratic voters are "mindless minions" who "vote" the way they are TOLD to vote by their leaders as it would be to suggest that so many conservative republicans are "mindless minions" who "vote" the way THEY are told by THEIR leaders.....

it is probably quite true that MILLIONS of people/voters on BOTH sides are being manipulated by fear and lies, misinformation and scare tactics

kind of makes a mockery of the whole voting/democratic system when the WINNERS tend to be those who have been able to scare the largest number of people/voters

The Democrats are widely regarded the longest-running such organization in history. They even celebrate, Jefferson-Jackson Day.

The Tea Party mainly claims to be supportive of the U. S. Constitution, and from the 18th Century time-frame: Unless they don't(?)!

They are now in the Party of Abraham Lincoln: Who knew even then, what was really Constitutional, and what was not! The Tea Party are for that, or they are not! Even the war legacy of the Republican Party allowed the rich to buy exemptions. Everyone else got killed off, maimed, or wounded. Blacks were exempted, of course, under the Constitution of the United States of America! So rich whte people were able to buy their way out of the military. The black slaves were property, subject to Amendment 5--and the rest--and so that left small business owners, and their employees--and probably their women--to kill off.

That is what The Party of Lincoln really did. They even do that now! Bush-Cheney-Paulson-McCain-Palin, sent billions in bonus bucks, to the rich bankers: And suported the murdering, "Surge." Body Armor for the troops, was not provided: Supported by Bush-Cheney-Paulson-McCain-Palin, of the GOP. The Tea Party even now is mostly regarded GOP.

Osama bin laden was known to be in Pakistan. The Republicans sent to the troops to Afghanistan, and then to Iraq, instead. All the world knows that nothing to do with Al Qaeda was happening, in that strategy. Abraham Lincoln, however, would no doubt have been on board! It took several attempts by the the Party of Abraham Llincoln-Bush-Cheney-Paulson-McCain-Palin to explain things at their start--and the next several years! It took several attemps by the Party of Abraham Lincoln-Bush-Cheney-Paulson-McCain-Palin to explain things, then: At their start--and for the next several years!

And then there is everything else!

"Crow, James Crow: Shaken, Not Stirred!"
(Yellow Hair Warrior, of Genocide of Abraham Lincoln, send enitire unit to Little Big Horn River: There to do extensive deficit reduction in just one afternoon!)

So far I haven't heard anything more than a kid that would answer "Just because..." Serious question. What compels you to be a member of the Democratic party or why do you vote Democratic? Simple straight forward question. There has to be more of an answer than "The Republicans are all creeps." Same could be said by the Republicans towards the Democrats. Put an education on me... Why are you a Democrat?

Says the woman with no education or job. Ironic.

I tend to vote democratic due to the social issues. I am not a religious person by any stretch of the imagination and most of the social issues that democrats and republicans disagree on (gay marriage, abortion, stem cells, etc...) are opposed from the right due to religious beliefs. I have a very hard time understanding why people would oppose such things and thus, I tend to vote democratic or moderate republican.

With so many posters on this board vowing to behave in a more civil and polite manner I'm sorry to see that you prefer the more uncivilized and impolite method of discussion.

of course, as long as you (conservative/tea paryt/republican?) insist upon insulting and mocking me then my bottom line for voting for D instead of R is strengthened.

perhaps I might be more inclined to vote R if people like you would behave more civilly and politely......

The Liberal Motto:

"Ask what your government can do for you, not what you can do for your country"

Bingo! This is what the Socialists/Progressives have done to the Democratic Party. They're a long long way from being the 'Party of JFK.' Those days are over. It's actually pretty sad.
