Democrats taking firm control of government

Just checked the map, seems the 3 remaining races not called all have the republican leading, so 54 may be all the Dems get for Senate seats.

So what happened to that SUper majority you all were claiming?

Stevens will get reelected and go to jail, which means the Republican Governor will replace him with ANOTHER Republican.

Anyone know if Alaska has a special election law or if Governor appointments serve out the remainder of the term?
They just changed the law a few months ago...if he goes to jail, there will be a special election.

Someone started a thread a few days ago asking what it is we feared with a Democratic victory. My fear is exactly those vulnerabilities you mention and the impact they will have on this nation. You can be sure that enemies of this nation will not be as inept at exploiting those vulnerabilities as the Republicans were.

The enemies I fear live on Wall Street. What is destroying this nation is not muslims, not "terrorists, not socialism. What is destroying the nation is the interests of the plutocracy.

Obama biggest vulnerability is the astronomical amount of money he raised .. from Wall Street.

The piper will have to be paid.

This is a well-deserved defeat for the Republican Party. I wouldn't call it a win for the Democrats since there are a lot of conservatives who had nowhere else to go. The Republican Party will either have to purge their LBJ-style neoconservatives or be replaced by another party. Expect the country to remain in a holding pattern for at least 2 more years.

Until there is the Governor appoints the Senator. Giving whom ever she appoints a leg up on the election process.

What about Delaware? I assume Obama will be replaced by a Democrat as well.

Both Biden and Obama's replacements will be appointed by the Democratic Govs of each state.

Prolly Joe Lieberman will make it official and become a Republican, so there's a pick up for you.

Ohh ya Biden got reelected too, what party is the Governor in Delaware?

Check my posts .. I said they may possibly get a super-majority .. but in truth, they don't need 60 seats in the Senate. Many moderate republicans will be voting with them .. and poor ol' Joe Lieberdoddle will be looking to make new friends. Actually they'll end up with at least 56 seats, which they currently have .. an 80 seat advantage in the House .. wow .. and they picked up two open governor seats .. and they won in places like Virginia and North Carolina .. all in all, a pretty damn good night for democrats.

Personally, I don't believe that one party rule by either party is in America's best interest.

Exactly. Once s politician becomes indebted to a particular group (in this case, Wall Street) all objectivity is lost. Some would argue that what is good for Wall Street is good for the country, however, that dog wont hunt any more given the events ongoing now.

I couldn't agree with you more.
