Democrats Retreat on Civil Liberties in 2012 Platform

We already know that lolberals like to cherry pick their civil liberties issues, based upon which splinter constituency they want to pander to this week.

But when it comes to things that effect everyone -i.e. USAPATRIOT Act, TSA, roadside shakedowns, gubmint confiscation of private property for private developers- they not only don't give a shit, they argue in favor of these outrages.

But thanks for at least trying to be the token lolberal apologist for the police/nanny state, no matter how marginally relevant.

so spaketh the anti-choice randian pretend libertarian.

Anti-choice?...In what instance?

Bring it.

Democrats Retreat on Civil Liberties in 2012 Platform | Mother Jones

In 2008, Democrats were eager to draw a contrast with what they then portrayed as Republican excesses in the fight against Al Qaeda. Since then, the Obama administration has in many cases continued the national security policies of its predecessor—and the Democratic Party's 2012 platform highlights this reversal, abandoning much of the substance and all of the bombast of the 2008 platform. Here are a few places where the differences are most glaring:

Indefinite Detention
Warrantless Surveillance/PATRIOT Act
Gitmo
Racial Profiling in Fighting Terrorism
Torture

Everybody saw this coming, right?

how about voters' rights?
women's rights to equal pay for equal work?
right to reproductive choice?
right to marriage equality?

when the president talked about closing Gitmo, the right had a nervous breakdown
when the president said he wanted trials for the people detained at Gitmo, the right had a nervous breakdown.

no one engages in racial profiling... that's what ticks off all the whiners who have a nervous breakdown b/c they have to take off their shoes at the airport.

and please let us know what torture and waterboarding occurred while this president has been in office...

Good morning, X, thanks for the morning fauxrage. :D

Obama fails his first test on civil liberties and accountability — resoundingly and disgracefully - Salon.com

Obama replaced water boarding with outright murder. Bush got criticized for things that Obama gets away with. And Obama expanded on those policies that the left hated so much.

So much for him supporting equal pay for women. It's just lip service-no more, no less.

I confess that I did NOT see it playing out THIS BADLY.

But clearly Obama and the DNC have no problem continuing the process of turning this nation into a SECURITY STATE.

Question is, will you fall for it again?

Yes, he is. This is not a conspiracy theory. This is real. Obama has a secret kill list (http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/29/w...al-qaeda.html?pagewanted=all&_moc.semityn.www) which includes American citizens and we have drones flying over American skies (Who Is Flying Drones Over America? - NYTimes.com). Since the Department of Homeland Security has subjective rules for determining who a terrorist is, it's not a stretch to imagine they could label someone a terrorist and kill them with impunity in the name of national security. This is no longer a left/right issue. People better wake up before it's too late, but I'm afraid that time has passed.
