This strategy isn't bogus. They are really going to use this as a strategy and go Mainstream in the Media with it.

All of these questions are insightful, legal, and reasonable. These are issues on the mind of a significant percentage of everyday Americans. They are hardly indicative of “the extreme” of the party.

Just like Mass, Democrats are blinded by arrogance and ideology. They would bury themselves with this as a strategy.

Hot Air Blog Archive Dems’ new midterm strategy: Make the election about … Birtherism

The “blame Bush” strategy flamed out in Massachusetts so they’re moving on to an even more substantive Plan B.

“Given the pressure Republican candidates feel from the extreme right in their party, there is a critical – yet time-sensitive –opportunity for Democratic candidates,” a DSCC memo, obtained by CNN, states. “We have a finite window when Republicans candidates will feel susceptible to the extremists in their party. Given the urgent nature of this dynamic, we suggest an aggressive effort to get your opponents on the record.”

Specifically, the DSCC wants Democratic candidates to pin down their likely opponents on several hot-button issues, including:

- Do you believe that Barack Obama is a U.S.citizen?

- Do you think the Tenth Amendment bars Congress from issuing regulations like minimum healthcare coverage standards?

- Do you think programs like Social Security and Medicare represent socialism, and should never have been created in the first place?

- Do you think President Obama is a socialist?

- Do you think America should return to a gold standard?

They might not want to open that can of worms.

They still don't get it though. Until they take ownership and stop the blame game, they are going to get hammered this year and in 2012.

The extreme right is too narrow a sliver to pick off. The Dems should forget about the birthers and partiers and fight to regain the independents. This stuff won't do it. They might as well ask, "Do you still cheat on your wife?"

Why should republicans have a problem answering if that is what they believe?

Of course we are! :clap2::clap2: Do you honestly think we wouldn't?:lol::lol:

The last line of that video is accurate:

"Those are easy questions to answer I think, unless you are an extremist."

This strategy has a two-pronged effect. If the candidate says that they don't think Obama was born in Hawaii, or is a socialist, or Social Security and Medicare are socialist programs the country never should have adopted, then they have pinned themselves down and revealed themselves as extremists and won't appeal to anyone but the fringe. On the other hand, if they denounce birtherism and phony cries of socialism and admit Medicare is the best health insurance program in America, then they don't appeal to the fringe and lose their votes. Either way, they lose a substantial number of constituents by being forced to clarify their beliefs on these issues and it'll lower their likelihood of getting elected. What they'd like to do is wear two faces, one to appeal to moderates, the other to appeal to the tea party, this strategy would prevent that.

So what will it be Republicans?

Do you appease the lunatic fringe or do you look like a whacko yourself?

Choose your poison

They try that and the Dems will lose every race they are in.

People are tired of 'gotcha' politics, that is why they elected Barry, he promised to end it (and lied).

You notice the plan is never to run with positives and achivements, its always to attack the other guy and assign 'blame' to someone.

The Dems are staring at epic defeat.

How is asking a politician about his political beliefs "gotcha" politics? How is that blaming him?

If a Republican believes those things he should have no problem admitting it

Shouldn't be hard for them, either. After all, it's supposed to be such a good time to be GOPer right now, so they oughtta be able to hold up their head high and say they agree with these things if they really do.

And certain GOP Senators can also say why they supported letting contractors mistreat rape victims, too.

:D
