Democrats Join Calls for Napolitano to Step Down Following Failed Attack

kyzr, you are being disingenuous. The whole political system from city to fed failed at Katrina. Don't try to pretend that our side was without error. The aftermath of Katrina was the beginning of Bush's wheels beginning to lose traction politically with the American people. In 2006 and 2008, they voted that concern. We have done absolutely nothing as a party to cause the electorate to vote for us. You better understand it will take BHO morphing into an obviously visual satanic Contumacious before the people will vote for us if we don't change first.

True. I hated the "American Jobs Creation Act" that did nothing to create jobs, all it did was give big tax breaks to Corporations to move factories overseas. Cut taxes and outsource jobs will NOT get the GOP back into power. The dems pushed for mortgages to the unqualified that created the financial crisis. Both parties are totally incompetent, both parties are absolutely horrible, its just that we swap them out every 4 or 8 years.

Look at SS & Medicare, they are going bankrupt and neither party can do anything. Clowns, morons, criminals, I'm running out of descriptors for DC politicians.

Napolitano will be going nowhere, just crying and whining will get you defeated every time!

Nowhere in her report does she make statements against that kind of terror as she does against our military veterens.

One, the report was about domestic terrorist groups.
Two, it's dishonest to say "she makes", since she's not sitting around writing these reports personally.
Three, it doesn't make any statements against veterans. It simply states returning veterans are often recruited into these groups. Historically, that's true. Just look at Timothy McVeigh.

Exactly so. I gather the month following Katrina during Rita, the feds acted much more quickly and efficiently. Nagin is such a loser, but easily won re-election. Makes one wonder.

they got what they wanted i guess....an incompetant moron who showed no leadership whatsoever.....

Polk..... what percentage of returning vets will do what she is saying?...she could have said it a little better than what she said.....doesn't she think who she is and whom she is talking about?...the unqualified idiot said it....the damage has been done....i hope she steps down tomorrow and we get an actual person who has actual experience in ....SECURITY...

The percentage doesn't matter, unless you're of the view that acts of terror don't matter unless there are a lot of them.

Sorry, got to call bullshit on your point number three. If you want to make a valid statistical comparison, then you would have to account for all of the returning military veterans who did NOT turn out like Timothy McVeigh and went on to become successful businesspersons, lawyers, doctors, clergymen, politicians, teachers and so on. THEN and ONLY THEN can you make a valid point about whether or not a statement is "historically" true. Just because of one man (McVeigh) doesn't mean there is a trend.

To the civilian, anyone wearing BDUs is associated with the military. In the military, we call these people "wannabes." But you'd have to march a mile in the mud in order to understand that point. Napolitano, who is ultimately responsible for these reports whether or not she personally wrote them, apparently does not understand the point and has irresponsibly labeled a group of Americans who do not deserve that brand.

She's an idiot.

What the US official didn’t say was that the Feds often and purposely exclude terrorists from such lists. Joe Trento is an investigative journalist and the author of Unsafe at Any Altitude: Failed Terrorism Investigations, Scapegoating 9/11, and the Shocking Truth about Aviation Security Today. He reports, "At the Central Intelligence Agency and Defense Intelligence Agency certain names and aliases are kept from the airlines and off the no-fly list to protect intelligence assets who are suspected or known terrorists." Why? Because, as Mr. Trento explains in his book, "...American intelligence and counterterrorism officials ... deliberately [allow] suspected terrorist to fly among innocent passengers in the hope that a terrorist would lead them to collaborators or even a terrorist cell." The government that nicks your Neutrogena lest you blow up your flight merely winks at Terry Q. Terrorist’s boarding."

So, it appears that Political Correctness as well as political realities won the day. To say that returning vets "could" be tempted to join right wing extremist groups is not PC. It could lead to stereotyping of vets.
Could we look at right wing extremist groups and say that there are no veterans participating in those groups? What do we have so far in our history? Tim McVeigh who took down the Murrah building and Major Hasan who killed 12 fellow soldiers. Is the military an exempt group when it comes to identifying potential terrorists?

Do those returning vets statistics also include these people?

• An Illinois judge displayed two Medals of Honor in his office, causing others to venerate him as a combat hero.

• A Missouri man gave speeches to veterans claiming he had been awarded the Navy Cross, the Navy and Marine Corps’ second highest award for valor.

• A Nevada man posed as a retired Air Force colonel and recipient of the Air Force Cross and gave numerous talks to schoolchildren.

All were lying about their awards. All were fakes — discovered, eventually, after fooling friends, colleagues and the public.

None has been punished. Under current law, it’s illegal to wear a decoration you haven’t earned. But there’s no law against claiming to have received an award you didn’t actually get.

While, I don't look for the our former Gov. to be removed or resign anytime soon, and for someone to somehow try to justify one of her numerous errors by trying to suggest some obscure statistical margin, I'd like to point out that based on that , the smae number people who attend civil flight school in the last 15 years have a higher number of people that commit crimes, 9-11 comes to mind.

Couldn't agree more.

The woman is in way over her head and had proven it time and time again. She should be removed. I'm sure they could find someone more qualified to head up Homeland Security. Jeeze. I sure hope so anyway.

did you read the rest of what i said?.....99% of the vets in this country are good people, they and about 80% of this country dont appreciate what the asshole said....its another politician opening up their mouths, saying something stupid, and then when the responce comes in,they back peddle and say they mis-spoke or they try and appoligize.....she has done this more than once in her exalted carreer....its time for her to say ..."i am not qualified for this job"....AND STEP DOWN...

I don't know what part you disagree with. The part you quoted from my post was that as head of DHS, Napolitano is responsible for reports that are issued out even if she didn't personally write the reports. Was that the part you disagreed with? If so, then please explain how the head of an agency cannot be held responsible for reports that agency publishes in her name?

Otherwise, your snippet about deliberately allowing suspected terrorists to fly is interesting but also misleading. In the US, if there isn't enough evidence to arrest a criminal, then they aren't arrested. That's their constitutional guarantee. So the next best thing DHS can do is subject them to additional screening above and beyond what regular passengers undergo. Otherwise, if the Government were to start arresting suspected terrorists without having all of its legal ducks in order, they would be held liable for false arrest.

She is a goblin. She's really gotta go....Shouldn't she be under a bridge somewhere?
