    obama's uphill battle to re-election is getting steeper.

    A report released Wednesday by the centrist think-tank Third Way showed that more than 825,000 voters in eight key battleground states have fled the Democratic Party since Obama won election in 2008.

    “The numbers show that Democrats’ path to victory just got harder,” said Lanae Erickson, the report’s co-author. “We are seeing both an increase in independents and a decrease in Democrats and that means the coalition they have to assemble is going to rely even more on independents in 2012 than it did in 2008.”

    obma lost the independents some time ago and has completely written off white blue collar workers.

    from the link......

    In eight states that will be must-wins in 2012 -- Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina and Pennsylvania -- Democrats lost 5.4 percent of their registered voters while Republicans lost 3.1 percent. The number of independent voters in those states jumped 3.4 percent.

    people are fleeing both parties.......

    The Democrats think the key to winning is a coalition of Hispanics, African Americans, College Professors, Librarians, and perverts.
    White working class Americans are politely suggested to just go outside and press their noses against the windows.
    Somehow, throwing what was the key to FDR's election victories under the bus just doesn't seem to make much sense.

    Not surprising. And very refreshing to know so many who fell for this clown's b.s. have seen the light.

    This is another reason to nominate Ron Paul, he is popular with Independents and Disaffected Dems, this is proof he could seriously challenge Obama.

    "A report released Wednesday by the centrist think-tank Third Way showed that more than 825,000 voters in eight key battleground states have fled the Democratic Party since Obama won election in 2008."

    Of course Third Way interprets that as people fleeing the Democratic Party because it is too liberal, that being Third Way's agenda: a corporatist me-too approach to economics coupled with a center-left stance on social issues. Third Way is part of the problem.

    The reality is that people who call themselves "independents" are not necessarily "moderates." Is Bernie Sanders a moderate? I wouldn't call him one. Am I a moderate? I hardly think so.

    Obama has lost support not because he is too liberal but because he is not liberal enough. People who supported him in 2008 thinking he was the Great Progressive Hope (and Change) became disillusioned over the past three years. They have turned away from Obama and the Democrats, but they have NOT turned away from liberalism.

    Who are these people going to vote for next year? A Republican? Hardly. For president, they are going to either vote for Obama as a damage-control measure to keep a Republican out of the White House, or else vote for a third party candidate (a progressive third party -- Green, Socialist, etc.). Which of those they do depends on three things:

    1) What Obama does between now and then;
    2) Who the Republicans nominate;
    3) Whether they are in a swing state.

    I may well vote Green myself, because I live in California and I know damned well Obama is going to win this state without my vote, so it's perfectly safe and I would not have to hold my nose to do it. (Of course, that depends on whom the Greens nominate; we'll see.) If I lived in Ohio or Pennsylvania, I would vote for Obama, no questions asked. And then protest against him after he wins reelection.
