Minimum wage: House passes $15 minimum wage bill - CNNPolitics

So here's how it works: Employers post a job (in any one of a hundred different ways) that essentially says, (A) I want to hire someone to do X, and (B) I am willing to compensate the person I hire at a fixed rate of pay, which is Y.

Then people who are seeking employment can decide whether to pursue that job. Are they willing to do X in exchange for Y? If they don't want to do it, or if they think that it is worth more money, then THEY CAN GO SOMEPLACE ELSE. Or remain unemployed. It's their choice.

And once a person accepts employment on those terms, there is one thing that cannot be denied: THAT JOB IS THE BEST JOB AVAILABLE TO THE PERSON WHO TOOK THE JOB.

So what right does some third party (Government) have to tell both parties that they cannot enter into that completely voluntary arrangement? Where does Government get that power?

Certainly not in the Constitution. Fucking with individual wages is not "regulating commerce among the several States." Clearly, Congress does not have the power to mandate wages in any manner.

Indeed, one of the rights alluded to in the Ninth Amendment is the Right of Contract. That is, as long as the contract is not to something which is illegal on its face (e.g., murder for hire), then each and every one of us has the right to contract our time and effort to anyone we want at terms that we deem mutually acceptable. And Government - certainly the Federal Government - has no right to step in and dictate terms of compensation or anything else.

But of course, the unconstitutionality and oppressiveness of this initiative is one thing, but it is also economically stupid and destructive. Even DEMOCRATS know this, as they only seem to bring up increases to the Minimum Wage when they know there is no chance that it will be made into law. And they also know that their constituents are too stupid to see that it is simply a cynical ploy to fool them into thinking that Republicans are preventing Good Things from happening for them.

And for those who still don't understand how stupid and cynical this periodic event is, the question always comes up: If $15 is a Good Thing, then why stop there? Why not make it $20, $50, or fuck it all, make it ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS AN HOUR, then we can all be happy! Wouldn't that be wonderful? Then we could end welfare, foodstamps, housing subsidies...ALL OF IT! Because everyone would be RICH!!!

And we have this New Democrat initiative right now because Democrats have figured out that, "You can't raise a family on $7.35/hr."

No shit. Why didn't somebody think of this before? It is truly GENIUS.

Okay.

Simply, who in their right mind says anyone has a right to create a family that others have to pay more than their skills are worth to support it?

Well if the corps , businesses and insurance want to raise rates every year, sometimes twice a year, the mim wage should keep up with them.

Who in their right mind says anyone has a right to create a family that others have to pay more than their skills are worth to support it?

accidents happen and the more you close PP and abortion clinics , get use to paying for children.

God said to procreate, isn't that the answer when you talk to the republicans, so GET USE TO IT.

They all fail to understand any type of economics. The down side of a government mandated wage is inflation. Inflation that eventually undercuts that wage increase. They also fail to understand that $15.00 an hour is a vastly diffrent amount in say California as compared to South Carolina.

If they want to set minimum wage allow states to set it for themselves. That way the state can decide how much or how little they want to affect the bussinesses in their state.

Not only that, you can't raise a family on $15 dollars an hour either. At least not around where I live.

$15 an hour as a minimum wage will put loads of small businesses out of business. I wonder how many jobs will be lost. Small business provides loads of jobs.

For people who think they are so smart the Dem lead house are a bunch of fucking idiots.

Oh and that stupid bill will never pass the Senate where the lawmakers are way more intelligent.
