Obama's Broken Promise

The president hasn’t only failed on immigration reform, critics say he’s making things worse. Patricia Murphy on why some Democrats are disgusted with their leader.

The words had an all-too-familiar ring.

When President Obama traveled to El Paso in May to call—again—for immigration reform, he sounded the same notes he has been hitting since 2008, when he promised Latino activists that he would pass reform within one year of taking office.

Obama spoke boldly to the League of Latin American Citizens during the campaign, saying “we need a president who isn't going to walk away from something as important as comprehensive immigration reform when it becomes politically unpopular.”

Since President Obama's been in office, more illegals have been deported then under Bush and illegal immigration is going down.

Senate Democrats came up five votes short of the 60 needed to advance the House-passed bill, which would provide a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants brought to the country as children if they attend college or join the military for two years.

It's absolutely ridiculous that you have to get 60 votes to break a filibuster just to vote up or down on every bill.

That's not Obama's fault.

Section 8 - Powers of Congress

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes

To establish Post Offices and Post Roads;

To promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries;

To provide and maintain a Navy;

That's a heck of a lot of socialism, chief.:lol:

Seems capitalists want more border guards and ICE team members, while making government bigger. Obama doubled the nuumber of border guards on the Southern border, and they are still whining. LOL!

The man is an utter failure, but it's not because he can't do the right thing and turn this country around, because he can. In his mind and the minds of every other progressive he is a success, because he has brought America down a level, he has made our allies angry with us, he has appeased our enemies "Now wanting to negotiate with the Taliban" and he is succeeding "In his mind" of America not be exceptional.
It's simply not because he cannot bring us out of this debt and recession, he just chooses not to because that is not his agenda.

Only if it's misinterpreted. To provide for the common defense and promote the general welfare does not mean to give free shit to the people, it means to promote an environment that allows citizens to prosper "Pretty much the opposite of what Obama is doing right now". It does not mean take from one citizens and give to another.

Actually no. The type of jobs illegals use to do..there's still a high demand for. And alot of companies are complaining they can't fill them.

The way you think it works and the way it was intended to work are two separate things. Could Obama not have had Harry Reid bring that bill to the floor during his first two years as president like they did the health care bill when they had the super majority? Yes he could have, so then comes the question...why didn't he? It would have been voted in just like Healthcare was. So why didn't they do it?
I'll tell you why, because he doesn't give a rats ass about them, and he only needs them as a voter block. He is telling them what they want to hear in hopes of gaining/retaining the latino vote while on the other hand not passing immigration reform will help him keep his moderate voters.
Like I said, he is playing politics, and you guys are falling for it, the rest of us see what's going on.

I'm sure obamas failed economic policies coupled with tornados and massive flooding destroying southern farmland had nothing to do with illegals leaving. :eusa_whistle:
